Yes, the ankle brace should arrive today.
Yes, sweats are a warm option for days when one has appointments in chilly places.
I haven’t slept (or napped) on the futon, yet, but I have one heavy cover on the bed. I got it when Chuck passed away five years ago (I think) and wasn’t sure I was going to keep it. Then I read a few articles about weighted blankets, and it seemed intriguing; never connected the two until I started to pack.
Then I decided it was heavy enough (3/4” thick fleece) it might qualify. So I put it on the bed and have slept well for the most part, ever since.
I’m with you on the dump truck!
I’m back. The dermatologist took a couple of things off my back and said they’ll let me know in a week. They weren’t OMG things, just, “That’s a little funny ...,” things. And charged me $50.
And a letter from my GP’s office said one of my liver enzymes is slightly elevated, come back in three months to give them my blood again.
Excellent! I hope it helps!
Charlie’s letter is awaiting pickup so now I can find other ways to spend my time for an hour until my next dose of morphine is due. Then I’ll pack some books.
Tomorrow, I think I’m going to sort through the boxes that Kate gave me and just get rid of the ones that I think won’t be suitable. I have a few large breakables to pack, and I’ll probably do that when I’ve found the right boxes.
And then I’ll be done until Monday, when I’ll try to pack some more books or bag some clothes in the bedroom.
I’m wearing sweats because I needed something easy to remove for the dermatologist. I’m going to clean the stove before I put real clothes on.
I wore sweats at work when they relaxed the dress code because I couldn’t get warm any other way. I spent my breaks and my lunch outside. The place was kept at at 68° because of all the computers. Sweats have their purpose!
Wishing I still had some! I think I need more hoodies! Or cute sweat shirts. Either one.
I had an elevated liver enzyme once when applying for life insurance. I went to an MD and he said that was one of those tests they really shouldn’t run because if you really have liver problems it will show up in lots of other ways. At one point he wanted to do a liver biopsy to see what was going on and I said, “Not unless you can tell me it would keep me from getting hit by a dump truck” or something similar. Anyway, it stayed elevated for a while then went down. I got life insurance.
Funny, that, in an odd sort of way.
Back when my Favorite Son had married his Perfect Wife, she had decided, for whatever reason, that I didn’t like her. About four months after they married, she called me and asked me if I had life insurance because “we don’t want to be stuck with your funeral expenses.” So she set up an appointment with her life insurance company, who sent a nurse out.
CFIDS affects the liver adversely, and though the disease itself won’t kill, there are things that can be so adversely affected that people can die from things they weren’t aware they had.
So my liver numbers were up, and life insurance was denied me. D-i-L was never told why but the subject hasn’t come up again. However, in the meantime, I began to take massive doses of milk thistle and once I began, my liver numbers have have gone up and stayed within the normal range for the last eight years.
I don’t have life insurance because I can’t afford the premiums on a high enough amount that would help defray most of the cost of a funeral. Pretty sad, really. Maybe when I get to AR...
My poor Favorite Daughter is undergoing a colonoscopy as we speak. The prep is a horrible experience by itself.
She wanted her Mommie by her side, I all I could do was wish her luck... :o[
One way to defray at least some of that expense is to separately select and pay for your choice of caskets from someone other than your "family" mortician. They may not like it, but that can be added to the list of things to negotiate.
Why no, I haven't done that. Why would I?
Best wishes. A little labor breathing and a podcast, and one is fine.
Vlad has two cavities, the orange-fanged ninny.
Well, thanks, Bob. I would never have thought of that. Probably because I’ve only recently found out where the cemetery is, and I may have some shirt-tail cousins who are buried there, but I would have to search several family genealogies to find out.
That idea of selecting a casket from elsewhere, though, isn’t a bad idea. So I checked:
She will let me know when it’s over. She sent me a text at 0310 this morning, saying, “Wish me luck today.” What for? I was in the shower when it came in and I checked the phone to see the battery life left and there was her message.
Maybe Vlad will remember to take better care of his teeth once he has the cavities filled.
In other news, I just got a call from AR, asking more details on my application, and she told me that if I applied to the Lonoke property and got in, the chances were pretty good that I couldn’t transfer to the Cabot property without a medical reason. So there is no sense in even applying to that one. Lonoke is 25 miles away...like St George from here.
I DID tell her about the mold in this place, but I doubt if it will have any bearing on how soon I can move. The fact that she is processing my application is good, as that means I’ll soon have a letter of acceptance. Something I didn’t have at the other place.
Needless to say, I didn’t get to the thrift store this morning to drop off this stuff.
One doctor suggested milk thistle to me. I can’t remember if I tried it.
Don’t let yourself be buried in anything rented.
Because of CFIDS being what it is, I’ll never be able to quit taking the milk thistle. The liver numbers drop quickly after only a month off of it.
When I tell people that I take supplements to function normally, that’s exactly what I mean. Some supplements can be adjusted as to dosages, as the need arises, but I’ll never be off of them.
It is what it is.
I promise, Bob!!
Although I was surprised to see the cost of some caskets on Amazon...the really spendy ones didn’t list a price. Which rather tickled my funny bone for some reason! ;o]
Well, there can’t be that much difference between them, even though people are dying to get in them.
Yes, I noticed. And the rattan ones seem almost as ostentatious, considering they’ll be gone before we are.
But when I get to AR, I’ll find out what I need to know so I can plan my funeral. So thanks, Bob, for letting me know there’s another way to go. ;o]
It will make things easier for my family, for sure!
And don't pay cash.
