It was last Thursday morning around 7 a.m. when Jonathan Rempel, a farmer in Sutton, Nebraska, received a phone call from the Sutton Volunteer Fire Department. They told him that his combine (WHICH HAD BEEN FLYING TRUMP FLAGS), two semis, and a tractor had all caught fire in his cornfield "at about the same time." The tractors had all been parked a safe distance apart, and it looks like the equipment hadn't been used since the night prior (which makes this extra fishy). Sadly, the firefighters were not able to save the equipment. State Fire Marshal Investigators are currently looking into the fire's origin.

In my generation, among tradesman it was understood that you don't mess with someone's tools. Destroying a way to make a living was considered one of the lowest crimes imaginable. God help the tool thief if the tradesmen caught him.
This firebug needs to be caught and lynched. Quietly of course, just leave him dangling from some back road bridge.

Arson/felony has several conditions; I don’t how they apply to machinery, in what degree.
I hope the feds are on the case -- I think.
I’m sure he’s an honest guy, but I hope this has nothing to do with insurance fraud. The farm sector is under huge financial stress right now. It would not be out of the question for some individuals to stage an incident to keep the repo man at bay. Having said that, it’s also possible that some left-wing morons did the deed.
That’s the third Trump flag burn I’ve heard about in the last few days.

That is serious property damage. Somebody should go to jail, and pay huge restitution.
Barr can not do anything unless it is a federal crime.
So far not a single poster has any clue as to whether it is a federal crime.
Many a farmer has suffered much worse because he put up a fence on a disputed property line... including murder.
So the equipment could have been burned for many reasons besides politics. Fence line, loose cattle, farmer's daughter, dog, local politics, or just pain meanness.
None of which is any business of the feds.
I am as conservative as anyone and much more than most, but before one rants one should wait to learn the facts.

Excellent comment. And you are so correct. I was a tool heavy manufacturer for 25 years. We were broken into probably twice a year as we were located in an inner city area. They only took the money out of our drink and snack machines. No one ever stole our tools.
Out of curiosity, who should President Trump hire to replace AG Barr, if he were to follow your advice?
Bets that IF the perpetrator is found, there will be less sentenced time for them than for the sad, drunk guy who set a few bales of hay with the Biden/Harris sign on them on fire.

If it’s a local/state crime, Barr can refer it to to them. Forensic needs to get involved and make a determination; then Bar/local DA can act.
