I have not got COVID-19. I do not wear a mask. Neither my wife, nor any of my eight children, who are spread all over the world have got COVID-19, nor have their children.... I have a rather small inner circle of friends Maybe 30 in all Not one of them, nor anyone of their family have got COVID-19. I live in San Diego.
I am wondering if anyone On FREE REPUBLIC has had or does have COVID-19 ? Were your symptoms bad if you did/do have it
...Do you personally know anyone who has died of it? If you do know someone who has actually died of COVID-19 How old were they? Did they have underlying conditions?
There is so much conflicting information in the news I thought I would simply ask people that I trust.
Please understand these questions are only for friends here on Free Republic who are comfortable talking about these things. I do not mean to intrude on anyone's privacy.
Thanks and God Bless.

No one I know personally has had COVID19. That includes family and church. I wear a mask to shop.
Since June I have been all over the country, including 10 days at Sturgis. Traveling by planes, car and a Harley. I don’t wear a mask unless I am in a business that requires it. I have not had covid, nor do I know anyone that has.
I only know one person who has had covid - Donald Trump. And I do not wear a mask. I do wash my hands. sometimes.
I had covid. Mild. No taste smell. Weak. In bed one week. Weak next week. My 20 something son had it. Several relatives. One in hospital 2 months
Know one man in his 50s who died
It’s real.
My 94 yr old MIL just died of it...so they say...NOT ONE PERSON at her assisted living place (staff or residents) tested positive...and yes, she had other issues. A neighbor couple both had it (68 & 69 yrs old) It lasted 24 hours.
I don’t wear a mask in public. I have treated COVID patients in ICU. If you are vulnerable, wear one and wash your hands, if not, go about your lives.
I tested positive to COVID, had a VERY low grade fever for 5 days. My wife tested positive with a prick of the finger and a nasal swab. She had NO symptoms. I think a LOT of people have had this, and have never been tested to prove it.
Sorry for your loss. I mean no disrespect or to sound cruel but did you, your son, and friends all wear masks?
I know two people directly and of several other people who have- all in nursing facilities and one a college kid at college. I really thought my 20 year old son did because cold symptoms morphed with headache and moderate fever Yesterday and today - but covid tested today and it is negative.
Maybe I have and maybe I have not. Its not like most people can tell without a test.
I meant your wife not son. Guess I was thinking of the President.
I lost a 69 y.o. friend with kidney failure to it. My friend’s sister and several other family members have it. Other friends have had grandchildren with it or other relatives.
My wife and I have not gotten COVID, although we were deemed “close contacts” to someone who did and had to quarantine for two weeks despite getting a negative test. My wife was exposed during a business meeting, and then I was theoretically exposed through her so we were both subject to quarantine. It has been something like 6 weeks and the person she was exposed to has not returned to work, he still has breathing problems and fatigue. No pre-existing conditions, he thinks he got it during a visit to Costco or Walmart before he started showing symptoms.
I have personally known two people who have died. One is my wife’s aunt, who was elderly and died in a care home in New York City. The second is in a business context, the owner of a bar which was a tenant of one of our clients. She evidently contracted the virus from one of the patrons of the bar, she had it for 8 weeks and then died. No pre-existing conditions as far as I know, but she was in her sixties. This is in Hawaii.
did this person have any other condition other then Covid-1984?
Thanks
I get tested Wednesday. I was exposed to someone who tested positive (sat next to her for 1.5 hours at a table). We were both wearing masks.
I suspect masks work in a narrow range of circumstances, not including the one impacting me. I sat next to her. If anything, her mask directed more of her breath in my direction. (leaking out the side)
I know about 6 people who had it. None that I know were hospitalized. Several had symptoms that were very mild. Some had symptoms that were of the type where you’d say, “I’m sick.”
I know of one person, late 70s, who died of it. This was early on so he almost certainly would have had better treatment now.
I got it about 10 days ago. Went to the VA to get tested and then to a large civilian hospital system ER. The refused to give me a prescription for the hydroxychloriquine cocktail.
Went to the VA, and they wouldn’t give to me either. They gave me Z-pac, a steroid, and cough syrup with codeine.
Both ERs said hydroxychloriquine was not approved by the CDC even though there are lots of studies that prove it works.
Big Pharma and Big Medicine hate hydroxychloriquine because it is cheap.
Fortunately, my wife takes hydroxychloriquine for some autoimmune disorders, so I borrowed some from her. Less than 6 days later,I went back to the VA and tested negative.
My recommendation is that if someone has symptoms, call your doctor to see if s/he would prescribe HCQ. If the answer is no, find a doctor who will.
One of the effects is that you will likely lose your sense of smell and taste. That can last a few weeks to a few months. For me, any food with some salt in it tastes extremely salty, so much so I couldn’t eat it.

I do have a story about a 90 year-old woman who was on a ventilator at a hospital that refused to treat her with HCQ and he family was told nothing else could be done. They called for an ambulance and took her to the MD Anderson ER where she was given the hydroxychloriquine cocktail. She made a full recovery.
