No one I know personally has had COVID19. That includes family and church. I wear a mask to shop.
I had covid. Mild. No taste smell. Weak. In bed one week. Weak next week. My 20 something son had it. Several relatives. One in hospital 2 months
Know one man in his 50s who died
It’s real.
Wire and I are essential workers, in early March she caught what we thought was a cold that was bad enough that she stayed home for 3 days. I felt sick for two hours with a mild fever. Tbree days after returning to work she noticed her sense of taste and smell along with appetite was way off. Over the next month she lost ten pounds due to food not tasting good but had no other symptoms.
So hindsight being 20 20, we both had covid.
I have not had a cold or flu for a decade or more till my two hour ick.
I, my wife, two daughters, three grandchildren all had symptoms of what we thought of as a touch of fl back in the first week in March. Wife as the only one who got actually sick. She had some pneumonia that her doctor gave her albuterol and an antibiotic to check against opportunistic bacteria. She was good in three days. Since then SIL and wife have tested positive for antibodies so I assume we all had it then. For me it was a lethargic day that included two hours of annoying cough and a low grade temperature for a few hours.
2 of my coworkers are out right now after testing positive. They reported that they feel like they have the flu. My cousin, early 60s, was hospitalized after testing positive. I believe I may have had the Coronas in late January. Jokingly described it as the plague. Bad enough that I reviewed my emergency contacts/plan with my significant other.
Two co-workers lost their husbands to the China Virus. The first was a Chicago Police Officer (the first to die of the virus) and the second was a Chicago Fireman.
A friend's mother died of complications due to the virus after contracting it while also battling heart disease. Another friends father died after a four year battle with lung cancer and the stupid coroner marked it "Covid-19". The family fought like hell to get that removed, the coroner refused.
Personally I'm immune system compromised due to taking Humira for my ankylosing spondylitis. I only wear a mask when I go grocery shopping (required by all the major food chains here..) and even then it's a simple cloth mask that wouldn't protect me from the virus anyway.
I take what I think are reasonable precautions. I keep hand sanitizer with me; I don't touch my face after touching anything the public does and I keep my circle of friends small and close. I don't wear a mask outside (despite a bunch of Karens who seem dedicated to screaming at people who don't) and I don't wear one while exercising (walking, riding my bike.)
My GF and I go out to eat at least once a week and given we live in the Chicago area (way outside the city) and the weather's getting colder we eat indoors at restaurants.
Even with my immune system being compromised, I don't worry about it. I do the things I should do to take care of myself, take extra Vitamin D3 and supplement with Zinc (which I learned to do thanks to reading FR.)
If I'm not worried about it, healthier people than me shouldn't worry about it either.
We got something in feb. but I killed it with silver
