A renowned Japanese jazz pianist has been robbed of his ability to play his instrument after he was attacked by eight teenagers at a train station in New York City.
Tadataka Unno, 40, who may never be able to play the piano again, was exiting the West 135th Street and St. Nicholas Avenue subway station in Harlem on September 27 when the suspects blocked the turnstiles and confronted him.
The musician attempted to walk around the group, but was yelled at and pushed from behind. He was eventually punched in the face and body.
According to Unno's wife, racial slurs were also yelled during the attack.
But police say no anti-Asian remarks were indicated in the report but the investigation is ongoing.
Unno was rushed to Harlem Hospital where he underwent surgery on his shoulder.
'I had no idea why I was shoved. One of them pointed at me and said, This guy just pushed me' to her peers. This was not true,' Unno told CNN.
'One of the others said, "She's pregnant," as if to imply that I had just attacked a pregnant person.'
Unno said: 'I might never play again.
'The trauma, both physical and mental, are severe, and I have no timeline for a full recovery.'
Unno said he is completely unable to use his right arm following the attack.
Jennings, an instructor at the Julliard School, and a good friend of Unno's says he is now suffering mentally and physically and is unable to play his instrument, which is his sole income.
'He's going to need some type of cushion to not worry about it, the medical bills, and he's going to need therapy,' Jennings told CBS Local.

“Teens.”
Is that what they’re calling them now?
> One of them pointed at me and said, This guy just pushed me’ to her peers. <
That is a rather common technique. Another variation is What did you just say? Did you just insult/disrespect me? (Of course, you actually had said nothing.)
In either case, its a heads-up moment. And probably its also time to retreat - because you will be outnumbered.
Is retreating cowardly? No. Its common sense. A karate master once told me that the best defensive move of all is not to be there.
Naturally, he will immediately be labeled as a privileged white racist who is a member of a right wing extremist religious paramilitary group.
Howhowhow did it become accepted in any group for men to wear their pants like that? Not only does it look ridiculous but as someone else has noted, they can’t run. Heck, they can barely walk.
Peach
beaten up by teens on NY subway
Everybody knows “teens” is just dogwhistle for Amish.
I just avoid NYC altogether. Frankly, it is only one of five states I’ve never driven in. I have no desire to ever go there.

Orange shirt white guy doesnt look too happy. Ill bet he has one hand on either a panic button or a pistol.
A Japanese guy playing Jazz Piano? Cultural Appropriation! No wonder the black girls beat him up.
Black Lives Matter
Thugz R US
Biden & Clinton were right....” Super Oredators”
BLM and its offshoots, supporters are the most racist group in America. They are anti-white, anti-semetic, anti-Asian. They particularly hate Asians because many newcomers moved into black neighbourhoods and established successful businesses and raised children who are excellent students, putting a lie to the claims of black “leaders” who blame white oppression for their multi-generational ghetto lives. Conservative white and Asian people are not blocking black people from climbing the ladder to success. Black “leaders” and white liberals are pulling them down.
They want to rule the Republic and can’t even dress their selves.
>>Shameful what these Amish did to this good jazz pianist.<<
I do hope he eventually gets back. People do not realize how much arm work goes into concert piano play.
This is NY so we know: 1) descriptions will NOT include the fact they are Amish; and 2) even if they are caught they will be given a light slap on the wrist or just let go with no prosecution.
He’s lived in NY for 12 years so should know the score by now .
Two weeks in and no arrests. No photos or descriptions of assailants anywhere.
Asians need to keep voting for Democrats, because people of color have to stick together to fight all the White Supremists
Not so sure you can say that anymore
Julliard is one of the best schools in the land for the arts.
I know of two singers who were accepted there.
When this fellow has healed, physically and spiritually from that trauma, perhaps he can be a private tutor.
Or, maybe he could take a cue from Maurice Ravel, who composed a piano concerto for the left hand in D Major.
Back in 1929.
Sux what happened to this skilled pianist. Asians may play a significant role in Trumps re-election as an underrated factor.
