The way it works is a letter stands for another letter. For example: AXYDLBAAXR is LONGFELLOW (does not apply to today's cryptogram).
Beware, the game is very addictive. If this is your first time, don't be intimidated, youll be solving them all within a few days. If youre stumped, take a break and return to it.
PLEASE DO NOT post the answer in general comments, but DO post your time and how you made out.
You can certainly send your solution to my private reply, or if you need a hint for todays Cryptogram ASK THE GROUP FOR HELP!
I suggest printing these out and work them on paper. If you need a little help you can copy and paste it to Hals Helper below.
You can then work on the puzzle without using pen and paper, but I recommend that you do NOT look at the letter counter.
One last request. Feel free to post a fun or clever clue, the more tangential to the quotation the better, but please dont put the actual words of the quote in the clue.
WISH NOT SO MUCH TO LIVE LONG AS TO LIVE WELL. BENJAMIN FRANKLIN
Another doozy from Todays Arkansas Gazette.
This may be easy for some esp if you get the first two words right out of the gate, otherwise youll be sloshing thru the mud like dough boys in WWI until you look up and some words appear before you. Dont give up on this one.
10 minutes good
5 minutes excellent
3 minutes superior
Author
32 minutes. Hint: Peace principles
Yesterday was a struggle
Today was fill in the blanks!!!
Words 8 and 12.
Last two words
The author also said if you want to make enemies, try to change something. Seems contemporary....
Easy, one minute.
Would be laughed/run out of town with such a statement today.
Close to another great statement from an earlier day
We must hang together or surely we will hang separately.
Quick one. Common letter, third word, second word, and the rest.
Took a flier on the last two words. Bingo....
I had no trouble with this. Most common letter, some short words,.....
Is that you, Hillary??
I took a lucky guess at the first word, that gave me the author, and it was snap after that. My lucky guess on the first word was based on letter frequency of its second letter.
I lucked out - it fell into place right away.
For me, the hint of the first two words made this one easy for me. With those the name of the author also became clear and it was all downhill from there.
Same here. First letter led to author.
This was a good one. Either I’m getting better or I’m getting lucky. I got this one in less than one minute by lucking out on a couple of short words that helped fill in the name quickly.
Struggled for a minute. Tried the last two words of the quote and it fell into place. Less than 3 minutes.
Good quote for these days
