There is that. On the other hand, I’m having a hard time gardening in Tennessee. Everything grows well but the bugs only go dormant because it doesn’t get that cold in the winter. My husband’s friend who was a farmer in New York told him about that. So that states that get cold in the winter actually are better for farming. Makes sense cuz I don’t see anything growing around here except a lot of grass.
Now there’s reports that a diary kept by Ashley Biden (supposedly verified) reported on showers with Joe when she was a kid.

In all seriousness, it is difficult. Too much rain, not enough rain, be 80 one day and 30 the next, not to mention 90+ for over a month at a time.
That being said, ‘back in the day’ they had to subsistence farm to make it so it can be done. Have you looked into the Master Gardener class at UT Extension?

Were you near Nashville? Yeah totally different weather. If you are that is. I try not to go there in the summer.
Well that’s the whole reason I might be looking for a different area. If we end up having to do a prepping life, life would be easier if the bugs don’t eat all of the crops. Seriously, hubby’s friend that grows corn in New York says the more days of freezing temperatures in the winter kills off a lot of the bugs. Here, my first year was always my best for a particular plant. Then the next year doesn’t even matter if I rotate or not, the Bugs find it immediately.
Now I’m really not that interested in learning about every plant. I’d be more interested in taking a survival cooking class :-)
