Taking the long view is it more important to America at this time that the President get re elected or that Amy Barrett is confirmed for the USSC?
I think they go together because if there is a growing perception that Trump will probably lose, some Republican senators would go squishy and that would doom ACB.
If Trump loses, there is no chance of holding the Senate. He could win and we still lose the Senate, but if he loses it is gone. No chance for McSally, Collins, Gardner, and we probably lose at least one of Ernst and Tillis as well.
Both but Barrett has longer lasting implications.
In a sense your question is moot: ACB is going onto SCOTUS. Period.
Trump is more likely than not to win reelection. But it is (sadly for America) not a lock.
Court Packing, or increasing the number of Justices does not require an amendment to the Constitution. The number of Justices is set by Congress not the Constitution.
Term limiting the Justices would require an Amendment.
There is no evidence that the Barrett nomination is hurting Trump, so this is a dumb question.
But Barrett needs to be on there because there is a real chance of a constitutional crisis coming up the next few months and you dont want an eight member court with Roberts as swing being the reality when/if that happens.
you act as if they are unrelated
given the constitutional crisis coming our way with upcoming election ballot issues
Go read a book.
You must be as bored as me :)
The President of course. Ante up.
If Trump's chances for re-election dim over the next 30 days, you can be sure Mitch will bail on holding a confirmation vote. Aside from Trump, being a Republican in Washington means you have no spine.
Not going to happen.
Once Trump is re-elected, he will have plenty of time to secure Scotus seats.
Trump being re-elected is the only focus of Deplorables right now.
Don’t ever trust “conservative judges” to judge conservatively. Trump will be our ace in the hole.
No comparison.
ACB is a done deal.
DJT is still a fight to be won.
Definitely Trump must be elected no matter what.
My friend and neighbor, Roberta, said two years ago that if Trump didn’t get reelected it would be the end of America. She was right. A 20-year US Army vet and Insurance company manager for another 20, she died quite suddenly at age 62.
With all the voter fraud, do you think President Trump can be re-elected without another Conservative Scotus?
Hey, what the hell is your problem? I just posed a question for discussion. It wasn’t meant to suggest we couldn’t have both.
It was either or just to start a discussion, which I did and I happen to feel exactly as the rest of you.
Go have drink.
I’d rather President Trump win re election than Angelina Coney Barrett get appointed.
I want to be clear. I also think it is more important to re elect Trump than place Barrett on the USSC and for the same reasons given by most of you. If Trump gets re elected then he will have ample time to replace RBG and perhaps 1 or 2 more. That is assuming he holds the Senate.
My question was posed as if there had to be an either or and only meant to encourage discussion.
Carry on.
