The debate? Trump was great, Chris Wallace was a dreadful disgrace

Chris Wallace’s overt defense of Joe Biden throughout the debate on Tuesday night was so obvious, so blatant, he should be proscribed from ever “moderating” a debate again.

Wallace’s performance was as Biden’s protector, his advocate, and that is undeniable. He stepped in at every moment Biden seemed lost: court-packing, lack of support of law enforcement, and Hunter’s criminality.

The debate was so poorly managed. The questions were designed to aid Biden, to coddle him. No wonder Trump felt duty-bound to interrupt. Trump was debating both Wallace and Biden and only one of them is sentient.

Wallace’s intent was clear – sabotage Trump. Wallace succeeded only in looking like the stooge he is.

Why a two-minute rule? That hardly gives either man time to rebut what was just said about him. Wallace even brought up the Charlottesville charge but did not admit it was a manufactured lie without giving Trump the time to deny the lie.

Clearly, debates could be managed much better, with less biased moderators. Microphones should go on/come off for the allotted time, when that time starts and stops. It shouldn’t be a free-for-all.

But the important people seem fine with things just the way they are.

Better yet: Put the two of them in a room and let them go at it.

I disagree. Trump needs to tighten up in the next debate. The best thing to do is let Biden talk. It’s when Biden is best at showing his dementia and dumbassery. Then Trump can call him out on his time.

I understand what Trump was trying to do — and he was debating two people after all and struggling to get fair time. But Trump needs a bit of a calmer approach next time, and allow Biden to drive off his own cliff.

Trump was NOT going tp let Biden lie his arce off. Of course he interrupted. Wallace supported Biden all through this except for one occasion.

I think Trump lost his cool and it scares me that a lot of viewers will feel he did not look presidential. Some people will not dis Wallace for backing biden.

I agree with that... I get Trump’s frustration, fighting a two-front war, but letting Biden stumble on his own is the best approach.

They aren’t debates and haven’t been for decades. They have become a little taste of Idiocracy and reflect today’s culture perfectly. I’m suprised DJT was as reserved as he was considering the crap he has had to put up with for the past 5 years.

Here is a Wallace interjection I remember:

Trump was talking about the BIG DEMOCRAT cities with increasing crime.

WALLACE INTERJECTS: “But Tulsa and Ft Worth are run by REPUBLICANS and their crime is also increasing”

“””Wallace supported Biden all through this except for one occasion.”””

What was that occasion?

Why do Republicans always accept the premise of the moderators' questions? Wallace asked the question about "Climate Change" like it was a fact. Trump didn't call him out on that. Nor does any Republican.

A great Trump line on the long winded questions by Wallace should have been, "Are you here to make speeches, or ask questions?"

Trump interrupted Joe too much. Let the dude talk. He got Biden's adrenaline going, hiding the dementia. With that said, I get it, I thought it was great to go after him right away.

IMHO, Trump blew it. He appeared impatient, bullying, and interrupted Biden too much. Trump failed to disavow white supremacy and didn’t explain how silly man caused global warming is. He also did not make clear that he would accept the election results if he loses.Wallace was obviously in the bag for Biden but Trump looked ill prepared for even that well known in advance situation. Disappointing.

That should have been Biden’s line...
If he knew anything of worth. Unless the moderators are more balanced, if I were the President, I would refuse to debate ever.

Trump took the shine off of Biden. People who don’t like Trump tend to cite his disrespect, name calling rudeness and language. What did Trump do? He pushed Biden and treated him the way Trump is often treated. How did Biden respond? He called him names, he used poor languages (shut up) he called him names (clown, liar)and he was loud and disrespectful. That isn’t the alternative to Trump. That IS Trump. The squishy vote looks at the debate with disgust. Guess what, that vote already looked at Trump with disgust. Now they see Biden the same way. Laura’s focus group captured this. Trump drove Bidens negatives up with the squish vote. If Trump and Biden are the same demeanor then it’s no longer a reason to vote for one or the other.

I think knowing he was outnumbered going in was disconcerting to the President. He could handle Biden. How did he know what Wallass was going to do?

Trump is a master of controlled presentation, his debate style is purposeful. I can only guess what his objective was. Testing Biden? Playing to the base? Projecting a president ready to do battle and not one being submissive? Is he focusing on base and not ready to switch to going for independent suburban women until third debate? Does he think women will say they like good guy but always date bad boys?
