I’m throwing Thomas Dolby in with She Blinded Me With Science because Hyperactive kinda sucked.

***West of the Wall—Toni Fisher (1962) ***

I remember that! It was a song in response to the Russians building the Berlin Wall! I could not remember who sang it.

I thought of it but it was so obscure I was not sure anyone would remember it.

Anyone remember this song..LEADER OF THE PACK? and it’s spoof LEADER OF THE LAUNDROMAT.

“Sukiyaki.” i remember it well! It played for weeks on WLS from Chicago. They offered a translation of the tune so thousands wrote in for the translation.

It was nothing about sukiyaki but some sad love song.
“I walk with my head down, so that the tears don’t fall”

So many wrote in that the next time such a song hit the airwaves the station told people to send in a self addressed AND STAMPED envelope. It cost them a fortune in post office stamps.

Leader of the Pack--The Shangri-Las (1964)
No, despite their name, the group is from neither Tibet nor Nepal.

Leader of the laundromat--The Detergents (1964)
Believe it or not, this was a Top 20 hit.

While we're on the subject, I'll throw this one in as well.
Laundromat Blues--The Five Royales (1953)

This version is about eating sukiyaki in Nagasaki--a hit in Europe, but not in the US. The Blue Diamonds also scored with this version.

Sukiyaki--Yvonne Carre (1963)

If you two are going to play Four Yorkshireman at least have the right number. I’ll just sit here and lurk sipping Chateau de Chasselas. :)
