QAnon spreads across globe, shadowing COVID-19
The Hill ^ | 09/12/20 06:32 AM EDT | BY CHRIS MILLS RODRIGO

The QAnon movement is spreading around the world, turning an outlandish conspiracy theory revolving around President Trump into one of the nation’s most dangerous exports.

Flags and banners brandishing one of the conspiracy’s mottos — “WWG1WGA,” an acronym for “where we go one, we go all” — dotted the crowd at a rally against lockdowns in Germany last month.

And when Trump visited Japan in 2019, he was greeted by cardboard cutouts of the letter Q.

These aren’t just isolated instances either. Researchers have found large QAnon communities in more than 70 countries.

The original conspiracy theory was tightly focused on an alleged cabal of deep state figures and Hollywood elites running child trafficking rings that Trump was working with the military to expose. But it has since evolved into a meta-conspiracy theory that pushes its anti-institution and anti-Semitic strains more explicitly.

Experts who spoke with The Hill about the theory’s spread said it has become worse because of the coronavirus, which itself is the subject of many conspiracy theories. This helped create a perfect storm fostering distrust in established government and public health institutions.

“Pandemics fuel a lot of questions and make people very skeptical, especially in cases when what we would consider to be credible and trustworthy institutions all of a sudden themselves don't seem to have the right answers or are not aligned on how to manage the situation,” Anna-Sophie Harling, head of media evaluation startup NewsGuard’s Europe team, said in an interview.

“Conspiracies are rooted in the idea that we're all being lied to by some greater authority or voice and QAnon perfectly ties into that.”

I love it!

Antifa, BLM, Occupy Wall Street, Global Warming, Globalism—These are are mainstream ideologies that need a countermovement to check them.

Anti-semitic? I'm neither for nor against QAnon ... at the very least as an impressionist painting, they are over the target ... but I'm neither bought into the details nor do I deny them, nor do I know all that much about them. That said ... I haven't seen anything anti-semitic (?)

Sounds like since EVERYONE knows it's at least kinda true, media needs to paint it with at least one stinky color.

Clearly, a cheese pizza is not just a cheese pizza. Rich and powerful people flocked to Epstein in order to be recorded having sex with underage prostitutes. Once they did that, the in-group knew they could trust them. The elites are into all kinds of weird stuff, much of it touching on occultism. Spirit cooking? Weird symbols? The CIA running a pedo ring? Planet Ping Pong Weirdo Pedo Pizza owner as a powerful person in DC?

Where I wonder about the “conspiracy theory” is the part where anyone is actually going to do anything about it.

I have been agnostic about QAnon, but you cannot deny that it has the right enemies.

I’m sensing an OKC-type event just prior to the election and the tail will be pinned on the ‘tips and their connection to DJT.

Anti-semitic?

The 8kun site, which is the home base of QAnon, is regularly spammed with anti-semitic posts, which any sane person would look at and realize is spam. 8kun is barely moderated, but it does provide a filter, and most people just filter out the spam.

It would be the equivalent of someone coming here and spamming the site with Nazi propaganda (with JR offering a 'hide post' command, so no one ever sees the posts) and then FR is labeled a 'Nazi promoting site'...

🙄

Maybe Q wouldn't be so popular if the democrats and media weren't lying scumbags. We hear these assholes telling lie after lie and then they wonder why we don't believe them. If they want to know why millions of people don't believe them they should look at Adam Schitt and Nasty Pelosi.

If true, everybody needs to prep for a mass-casualty situation, along with probable power-outage to mess with the election. Many believe most of the chaos of the last four years was intentional, then this current timeframe would be for all the marbles. Plan to vote, but following even info sites appearing on the side of the Constitution could just be a distracting part of the operation. Prepare locally and watch your six.

The QAnon movement is spreading around the world, turning an outlandish conspiracy theory revolving around President Trump into one of the nation’s most dangerous exports.

Ahahahahahahaha.

But it has since evolved into a meta-conspiracy theory that pushes its anti-institution and anti-Semitic strains more explicitly.

Mahahahaha.

Somebody show me the anti-semitic part. I missed that part.

The versions of QAnon abroad are fairly similar to the theory in the U.S. It is deeply anti-Semitic, casting Jewish Holocaust survivor George Soros as the puppeteer behind politicians...

Oh, all of a sudden Soros is a 'holocaust survivor'. I coulda sworn he was a Nazi collaborator.

These derps sure count on people being ignorant.

The number of lies in this article are too vast to list.

But look at them squirm against a LARP.

“Heh heh, Q must be over the target. A group against satanic pedophiles, must be dangerous, lol.“

.... and don’t forget, QAnon is also anti-semitic..., just for good measure.
