More likely it’s the big money behind the scenes getting fed up with how their investments are are going down the pipes.

Re: the flag last night......(I hear the overuse of periods triggers some, happy triggering!)
When the camera pulled back and did wide shots, I noticed how the flag pole not only displayed our flag, but also, below it, a cross. Now, I’m not so alt/right as to think that was a purposeful “God rules this” statement, but I did find it interesting. Before I let myself go down any rabbit holes, I used this incredible thing called my brain. Called up the “when I was the daugheter of a “Pilot of the Great Lakes, the Mississippi River and the Gulf of Mexico’s dad” file.
It’s called a nautical flagpole, the cross section is to display the different flags that ships and boats use to communicate with each other without the luxury of a radio. Also used to comm from land to all the ships at sea, or those that can see it.
But, I prefer the “God’s got this” interpretation better.
Two points only...
First, while he was a military academy student, Cadet Trump had a reputation of being, if a prank was afoot at or around the school, either a ringleader or in full knowledge of all the people in on the plot.
Finally, the convention's not over yet and there may still be a few lib heads out there to cause to explode.

Very interesting! I read that the current flagpole has been in place since 2009 and is made of douglas fir. Back in the day, if you wanted a flagpole you went to the places that made masts for ships, some of which were in Baltimore.
As a landlubber I might have known that “cross” was called a “yardarm”, but only from movies ;-) There’s a whole etiquette about how signal and other flags are flown from the yardarm. And I came across another question that appears to have a simple answer but an intriguing folklore: “What’s in the ball on top of a flagpole?”

I know, but I was chiding you because of all the newbs lurking...
ESPN is owned by Disney, and there are rumors (I follow some pop culture you tubers) that the "woke" culture is getting ready to hit a brick wall at the mouse house. Right now, they're losing a LOT of money. Even before the shut down, Galaxy's Edge totally underperformed. The last few Star Wars movies have been far less successful than they should have been. The next planned phase of Marvel movies has been greeted with yawns.
Supposedly, the edict is coming down that Disney personalities will quit insulting fans, and start trying to make movies that appeal to the audience again.
I'm going to be watching the situation (not the sports) with interest, cause I'm not sure upper management is going to be thrilled with the ESPN talking heads encouraging sports franchises to kill their seasons.
If their audience reflects a true cross-section of America, why do they insist on insulting 83% of that audience?
More to the point, why does 83% of that audience just shut-up and take it?
