If he had wanted to avoid debating, he should’ve gone full retard in his speech. He already was in as the RAT nominee and he’s protected by the MSM, so he’d have had nothing to lose. And if Trump had insisted on debates, PDJT would have appeared to be bulling a half-wit. That’s never a good look.
But ... nooooo ... he had to appear to be sane. Now he has no excuse to avoid debates.

20 odd years ago when Smerconish was just a commentator on 1210 “The Big Talker” in Philly he was a different guy. He sounded more like Tucker Carlson than Lanny Davis. But when he got noticed a bit more widely he suddenly saw the need to change his tune and swerve leftward. It was like clicking a switch; and it was very off-putting to me. He’s just another lefty windbag.

Conehead Smerconish went through a period during the 2nd term of the Bush years where he called himself a “radical moderate” or some such nonsense. It was almost like he was consciously trying to tread a path down the political middle. After that, he became another fawning Obama sycophant. It is obvious he is a phony, an organ-grinder monkey who will dance to any tune as long as the pennies keep falling into the cup.
Maybe, if the speech were known to be dead live (now there’s a funny phrase) but it aint. Let’s see him LIVE.

An ad the President is running does a good job displaying the problem: clips from five years ago were shown in which he was lucent,aware,sharp...clips from the last few months showing a guy almost as clueless and sad as my 89 year old Dad was after his strokes.
