President Trump said during an exclusive Oval Office interview on Thursday that his campaign is “putting New York in play” against Democrat Joe Biden in the 2020 election.
Trump told The Post that he believes a spike in violent crime and high taxes can help him win his home state in an upset against Biden and running mate Kamala Harris.
“Over the last six months what’s happened is insane. It’s insane. So we’re going to try very hard to win New York and that will be the first time — is that since Ronald Reagan, I guess? Since Ronald Reagan,” Trump said.
“I will bring down taxes and I’ll make sure that New York City is a safe place. I mean, this is one of our cherished — this is a cherished diamond of this country. And we can’t let this happen to New York.”

New York is in play just like media always says Texas is in play. Not gonna happen.

The real tragedy of my home state is that western New York is conservative once you get out of the Buffalo city limits.
Lots of gun-owning patriots in the Erie County suburbs and on into the rural counties.
It still might get the Dems to waste money advertising there.
Trump will win all of Upstate, for sure. Who knows, maybe even Buffalo will be in play.

Outside of Urban areas, there are Trump signs everywhere. Not only are there signs, there are bumper stickers, flags and in a few houses, entire lawn displays. The trick is to convince the urban areas like NYC that Trump can make a difference in NY with Cuomo and DeBlasio still in place.
All he has to do is overlay images of DeBlasio and Cuomo over the video footage of the riots and looting, with the word “DEMOCRATS”

I went on the Upper West Side FB page created to talk about the crime, homelessness etc. that is plaquing that part of town. Was curious how they think.
99% of the people blame Trump and get this most think not enough money is being spent on blacks, homelessness etc. if you want to read bleeding heart liberals in action.
95% of NYC is far left liberals and unless you carry NYC you will never get the state.

I recall upstate NY- Plattsburgh, Malone, Peru was mostly Republicans in the early 50’s. I saw “I Like Ike” pinned on most people then.
Trump has a 50 state strategy and New York is well within reach.

Trump didn’t say he was sure to win, just stating he thinks he could do better there then last election - which makes Dems have to spend money and time defending it.
