What Does Having an IQ Higher Than Einstein Mean?

Nishi Uggalle, the latest crowned champion of Channel 4’s Child Genius show, is believed to possess an IQ “higher than Einstein’s”. Impressive as it sounds for a 12-year-old winning a junior Mastermind programme, but does the comparison with the infamous physicist actually mean anything? And how seriously should we consider IQ (intelligence quotient) as a benchmark of a person’s intellectual capacity?

The most notable issue is that nobody knows what Albert Einstein’s IQ was because he never took the test. It is presumed he would have an IQ score of over 160.

I’d say it’s all relative, but it’s just a theory.

Good for you! Probably smarter because you didn’t go to college. The smartest person I ever knew, never graduated from high school. But he could run rings around plenty of college graduates ( especially todays variety) He was also charming, funny, unassuming and a fabulous chef.
If he needed to know something, he taught himself. And he always worked on improving anything he did.

Ah. :) I was in Philly as a child, on one of our family trips. My dad and I were/are history buffs. :)

And Florida was like a second home to my family; my grandfather bought a plot of land in Longboat Key in 1962 and had a nice one-story home built. Now, it’s filled with mega-mansions. A shame, really. But Florida is great. :)

OH!!! So sorry for the confusion -— the bio I put in my post was my Dad’s. He was amazing, and eccentric.

IQ does not measure how smart you are.... It measures your ability to learn... If you have a high IQ and don’t apply yourself, you will still be dumb as a bag of rocks

My membership kit delivered to me, a 12 year old boy, a license plate frame for my car.

My IQ is no longer that high. I stopped paying my dues. It was good while it lasted. You know... my teenage years.

Learning is hard. Which is why engineering curriculum’s have the highest drop out rates. Thermodynamics is hard, strength of materials is hard, I never understood how exactly Entropy can be calculated. Try calculating shaft bearing loads supported by 3 bearings.

I thank God for the adequate melanin he placed in my skin, by my ancestors taking residence in India for 4000 years. I never use sun blocks, but seldom subject myself to frying in the sun. I have played 5000+ rounds of golf with always wearing a wide brim hat, even though it may not be necessary with my skin color.

I can say one thing for sure based on 62 years experience of living as an adult....the best gift one can have is possess tons of common sense. And yes, only thing high IQ tell you is you have ability to learn IF YOU TRY TO LEARN.

One of thing which really frustrates me is while immigrants from India currently have the highest capita income of any ethnic group, majority vote democrat! The democrats are better at PR making immigrants believe their party is more inclusive, while reaching into their pockets.

“My IQ is no longer that high”

I think I know what you mean. At least for me, I probably killed a few too many brain cells along the way. :(

I’ll have to research that; the effect of aging, alcohol, LSD and other things on drugs. Hey, at least I never smoked. Could have done something about the other things, but not aging.

Once when I asked my dad if it was hard, getting older, he said (ever the optimist; I take after him like that), “It’s better than the alternative!” :)

Gosh, I miss him.

I think we are headed to FReeper Island...

To those too new to know about this, I barely found out when I joined, but it was apparently a beautiful place, full of fanciful thoughts and witty conversation, all far, far removed from the original point of the thread. :)

” I never understood how exactly Entropy can be calculated.”

I’m not great in math, but I took Physics for Poets in college. I don’t think entropy can be quantified.

I stand to be corrected, though.

*** “I joined Mensa to put it on my resume for IT positions because I don’t have a college degree. High intelligence can be fun if you don’t take it too seriously. In line with what others have pointed out, I have discovered that intelligence is more frivolous than beauty if you don’t use it well. At least with beauty, everyone who sees them has their day brightened a little (unless, of course, they are plagued by envy) ;)” ***
