I have been thinking about getting a good steel bike (classic frame style). Does anyone have any ideas on how to get one without spending an entire retirement account?
I dream about getting a Colnago Arabesque frame and trying to collect Campy gear piecemeal, but that is waaaaay to expensive.

My question: I’m looking for a collapsible hand-powered trike (I can’t do much with my legs). Collapsible as in being easy to fold or quickly disassemble to put in a car trunk or back seat. So far I’ve had little luck. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
P.S. One solution might be to buy a small truck. But that’s not doable for me.
I bought myself a Fat Trike for Christmas and I’m so glad I did. I have stability issues and my dog has a bum leg, so the Fat Trike is perfect. We have ordered an ElliptiGo that is scheduled to be shipped almost a month and a half after the order date. It has been delayed once already but the owner of the shop assures us he has it in stock and it will ship. It requires some customization (add-ons) before it ships. There are no bikes of any type out there. There also are no RVs.
I’m watching to see if the Tour de France starts at the end of this month.
I don’t know about it but I have seen a few hand-powered trikes moving at good speed.

A younger relative has basically built one, piece by piece from his local bike shop since the shelter and cower has been in place with the money normally spent on other items.
you looking for bike to exercise your arms? Or just to be out and about on a bike? If the latter, how about an electric assist bike?
Please dont stop riding 5 abreast as you take up the whole lane. The people in the cars backed up behind you really appreciate it.
Thanks for asking. I’m looking for an out and about hand trike. And something for exercise too. I don’t need an electric assist as my arms are pretty strong. I just need something I can easily transport in my four-door car.
Everything I’ve seen so far won’t fit unless I spend a huge amount of time disassembling, and then later reassembling.
I'm not knowledgeable enough to build a bike from the frame up, but really admire those who are.
I have been told that the Bottecchia Leggendaria with Campy Chorus is reasonably affordable, but...

There are plenty of bike makers out there with classic diamond-frame steel bikes. Gravel bikes have really taken off in the past few years and they are durable, comfortable, and can be used for on/off road. YouTube has a bevy of bike channels for everything from racing to touring to e-bikes.
REI has several in the $1,000 range that are really good bikes. It doesn’t sound like you want to shell out the big bucks for high-end components, so a good frame with decent components may be the ticket. REI has a line called CO*OP with several steel frame models with plush tires (650Bx50mm is comfortable and still fast on road). You can always ask questions here, too.

Don’t know where you are my friend but the bike isle my walmart looks like the toilet paper isle back in March...Acadamy sports is same deal, none to be had. I’ve been waiting on a trek hybrid from a local shop for almost a month and its “supposed” to be here tomorrow.
When I rode year round, Inwouldcinxentrate on buying a really good frame. Then I would upgrade the parts as I had the money.
I’m not mechanically minded, but the local bike shop was willing to do the work for ba reasonable rate.
