This isn’t similar to those on the list, but I recall counting on being safe inside our homes. That’s pretty much gone now.

When I consider what Trump means by “Make America Great Again”, I go back to the time — maybe the ‘50s or ‘60s — when nobody locked the doors to their homes or cars. That was a good, innocent, time and it would be nice to feel that safe again.

I got tired of your complaining after the first 300 words.

Paragraphs are your friend.

Things we used to count on as Americans- Because God only knows what will happen if the Democrats win the Presidency

1. Buying decently located real estate was a good investment - under socialism will it be subject to being confiscated by the state? Or will we have forced urbanization?

2. Our kids could choose to further their prospects for success in life through higher education- aside from costs being astronomical we now are subject to the government deciding (for political reasons?) whether colleges can open or not. Also with our litigious society the schools are scared to open and allow their students a normal education because God forbid any number get sick- they will get sued.

3. Losing your job didn’t necessarily mean disaster. You were free to find another. Covid has derailed many in their opportunities, including many people who supplement their incomes with jobs such as waiting tables.

4. Putting your money in an FDIC insured bank account- again, what is to stop this new “Democrat” party from confiscation and further devaluation of the dollar with more stimulus or bailouts? We have had enough of bailouts to last not only ours but our children’s and grandchildren’s lifetimes. No more!

5. If we needed something at the store, like toilet paper, or rubbing alcohol, we could go get it. No more. Will shortages become a thing like it is in communist countries where there are all day lines in order to get a loaf of bread?

6. We had options when it came to quality of products- Trump is trying to rectify this but we all know that China has it’s cheap parts in just about everything we try to buy.

7. We used to have fair and speedy trials. Now our own government has been caught blatantly prosecuting political opponents and the judges have behaved in ways unprecedented in American law. There doesn’t seem to be any accountability in the system anymore. Lawless CIA and FBI agents are writing books and working as talking heads for “news” outlets! How does this get rectified? Must we take up arms?

8. If our doctor saw fit to prescribe a certain medication for us that was a decision we made with the doctor. Now the government can carte blanche decide whether YOUR DOCTOR can prescribe potentially a life saving medication. *Hydroxychloroquine costs about 10 cents per tablet. The drugs and vaccines being developed cost much much more, and profiteers are gambling with lives to reap the benefits.

9. The youth used to question authority. They used to delve deeper and look for alternative views. Now they have been bullied into group think. Our youth has largely been indoctrinated with the belief that government knows best, and they should“take care of you”- or at least those who can’t take care of themselves. They have failed to learn from history how these kinds of governments actually treat their citizens. Also, rather than defend their views on disagreeing with the violent BLM movement they delete their social media accounts. The cyber bullying that is going on has forced them to comply by posting supportive BLM messages. If they don’t they are bullied by “friends“. So it’s easier to just delete your account.

10. We used to be able to count on free speech and our government was set up in order that minority views were heard. Now the Democrats want to get rid of the filibuster and quash any dissenting voices, which destroys the democratic process and silences minority views. Mob rule is then our new form of governing.

11. The Postal system was reliable when sending anything from a note to important documents and election ballots. If a postal worker decides not to deliver and throws it in a dumpster how do we even know? This has been documented to happen over the last few years several times!

12. We no longer have the ability to freely travel anonymously. The government AND PRIVATE COMPANIES track where you go, what you buy, your medical records, and your personal interests. *our youth largely thinks this is ok and has given their lives to the convenience of Google running and knowing everything, as well as sharing everything not only with the US governor but also with foreign governments like China.

Good thoughts, but needs < p > paragraph tags. :)

“Must we take up arms?”

May/will come to that if all else fails.

For decades we elected Republicans with the expectations/hope that they would stand up for us and preserve the quality of life in this country. Instead, they sold us out and we didn’t hold them accountable. Just saying.

Those things (and a lot of others) began to erode with the 1965 Immigration Act. That, combined with our open border for illegals, and “free market” love of cheap foreign labor, has destroyed our culture. Feminism and other things have played roles, too, but the demographic replacement by design has wrecked this country. We no longer live in a high trust society. There are still pockets of it, and the people in those pockets tend to believe it’s like that everywhere. It isn’t. A Third World population makes you the Third World. We are headed there, with ever-shrinking spots of America 1.0 sprinkled in ... for now.

Years ago I read a article, maybe by Pat Buchanan (IIRC) about the effects of technology upon society. A key point was the information highway created by the internet with all the apps created, made our private lives less private. And that all this information could be easily accessed by the government and abused by whoever was in power.

The article used the term 'Turnkey Dictatorship" Meaning the apparatus is already in place awaiting for the totalitarian-in-waiting to step into power and use it. I scoffed at the time, thinking we have too many constitutional protections to allow it to happen here, in America.

Dave's Site

With the advent of recent history, my faith in the system is greatly diminished.

The Left feels that Trump is a 'dictator' but he has only done with what powers and laws Congress has given the presidency over the years. They just don't like it when a conservative gets in the Oval Office.

The election of President Biden, who would just be a figurehead for the real Soros picked vice president would be the real power and that has the greatest pontial candidate to the 'turnkey dictatorship' against the (conservative) electorate

Witnessing the "chaos" that the Leftist mayors and governors to rule in their own cities only reinforces the idea that Leftists will do whatever necessary to achieve their 'utopia"

Be warned. And be armed!
