Another friend just called she has zoster sine herpete (ZSH)
Shingles with out the rash.
A lot of pain she said.
Doc sent out pain meds, cut pin from a 10 don to 3, but still very painful.
Anyone have any answers for the pain?
I hope you don’t mind me jumping in here
but I want to suggest you look into L-Lysine
which is an amino acid that you can take to
help with herpes infections/ flare ups.
It works very well suppressing the herpes virus.
It is a supplement, not a drug.
It also comes in topical form
It WORKS!

I developed shingles in February. I treated it with prednisone, ibuprofen, benadryl, and acyclovir. There is no answer for the pain, really, because the infection is within the nerve pathway itself. The above helps a little, but mostly you just have to gut it out.
This requires a lot of patience. At times, it will hurt to wear clothes or even think about something touching the skin. It will abate after some time. Sorry.
The dosage of ibuprofen was 800mgs 4 times per day. Don’t take it at any higher values.
I had full blown Zoster complete with rash very bad.
Most excruciating pain I ever had.
It started in one eye, went to the other eye then all over my head.
As Jemian said, no pain killer worked.
I just had to live with the pain many weeks until the infection ran its course.
I lucked out and got the anti-viral injection within the first 72 hours. It kept the Shingles from spreading. I only had a small cluster just above my breast and a few on my arm and back. All on my right side. This was over a year ago and so far I have had NO residual pain.
