CALPERS has been having problems for years, off and on. Their calculations include a high expected rate of return. I think now they have again decided to borrow money at a low rate in Hope’s of a high ROI.
I had dealings with CALPERS when I worked for a PEU in California. One meeting I remember was with a garbage collector that made around 100K and upon retirement worked for CALPERS in investments. He laughed about the fact that they can do whatever and make the taxpayers pay, and if nothing else the federal government would bail them out. Obama years.
Guess they went up from a garbage collector to a Chinese spy.
Yes, this was going on in bay area when I left. Affordable (section 8) housing in the suburbs, crime went up and house values went down. Orinda, nice small town, forced into it.

With all the griping about mail-in ballots, I have to admit, I have been using mail-in for ever. I don't believe I have ever gone in to vote. At any rate, OC has a website that you can check to make sure your ballot was received. I always do that & assume it is also counted.

The griping isn’t about the mail in ballot that you had to request.
I know you must know that.
It’s about sending out mass ballots to even cats that have been dead 12 years.
Too much temptation for fraud so the dims think this is the only way to go naturally.
We like going to the polls and voting in person since we like in a small town and there are never any lines.
Don’t we know the Dems can avoid taxes with NOTHING being done to them?????

I only used mail in one time because I was going out of town. I like the process of standing in line and observing the process.
When I lived in California, I would check for a list of Republican voters that had voted, then call those that hadn’t.
Last time I voted here in Texas, I took my little granddaughter with me. She loved it. Got a sticker and was told she was expected to be back when she was 18 to vote.

(CNN)The US intelligence community’s top election security official said in a statement Friday that China “prefers” an outcome where President Donald Trump is not reelected in November and Russia is working to denigrate former Vice President Joe Biden’s White House bid.

“We assess that China prefers that President Trump — whom Beijing sees as unpredictable — does not win reelection,” said William R. Evanina, director of the National Counterintelligence and Security Center, in a statement updating the election threat landscape heading into the November election.
“China has been expanding its influence efforts ahead of November 2020 to shape the policy environment in the United States, pressure political figures it views as opposed to China’s interests, and deflect and counter criticism of China.”
“We assess that Russia is using a range of measures to primarily denigrate former Vice President Biden and what it sees as an anti-Russia ‘establishment.’ This is consistent with Moscow’s public criticism of him when he was Vice President for his role in the Obama Administration’s policies on Ukraine and its support for the anti-Putin opposition inside Russia,” Evanina added.
