By personally teaching their children at the expense of those who do not personally teach their children?

One thing I’m absolutely sure about is that the achievement gap has nothing to do with Black culture, parents, average IQ, or behavior.

In the end, NYT et al. really won’t care about the ‘achievement gap’ of black and brown children, all they want is for ‘white parents’ to fork out more money for the perceived sin of being white.

Areas of suburban Washington DC have public high schools populated by the demographic you describe. The parents play an extremely active role in the schools. They demand high standards and challenging course options. They reinforce and support school work at home.
They are some of the best schools in the world (public or private) IMO.
The NYT is declaring that black people cannot possibly be decent parents? Is that their claim? Are they tying this is to increased support for Planned Parenthood in ghetto areas? Or does that come later?
The corollary is .....
The idiot reporter had to reach back to one incident in 1963 and then extrapolate that onto to smear ALL schools and ALL White parents to make a twisted, ridiculous point.
Coming from the front lines: Any White (yes, capitalized) parent who sends his White child into a majority black school is committing child abuse.
Don’t believe me? Colin Flaherty of “White Girl Bleed A Lot” has thousands of examples of White children being beaten, abused, terrorized, assaulted and robbed at black schools while the authorities look the other way and say “Kids will be Kids!”

When my daughter was in 5th grade, the teacher and principal wanted her to help teach math to lower grades during HER math time.
The principal called me personally over this, told me it would be a great honor. I told her my daughter is at that school to learn math not to teach it to others and that would be robbed her of her own math lessons.
I then asked if my daughter could get part of the teacher’s salary for this.
Never heard back. My daughter continued with her own math lessons and I was never asked again.

This is classic Collectivist reasoning - we should all be brought down to the lowest common denominator in the name of “equality”. We can’t have “Disparate Outcomes” after all, just ask Obama and Holder.
Has there been one proposal, even one suggestion from these Communist bastards about elevating the education levels of lower income inner city minorities? Challenging these young people to reach their potential as opposed to lowering expectations and standards to accommodate what is clearly assumed to be inherent inferiority?
When you are ideologically committed to a false premise, such as all cultures are equal, or that all people are equally intelligent, the only reason that can explain “achievement gaps” or other disparities, is racism.
Exactly. The writer is claiming that the achievement gap is due to white parents playing an active role in their children’s education. The flip side to this statement is that black parents do not participate in their children’s education. Is the writer implying that white parents need to disengage from their children’s education in order to close the achievement gap?

I have Jewish ancestry. My WASP-y wife commented that I've been upgraded. I wasn't considered "really white" by some, but with the rise of this BLM black-superiority crap, I've been promoted.
This is all part of white privilege theory. The progressives believe privilege or a better word “success” in school, and life, is a zero sum game. It is not at all. Iy is not given or withheld. It is earned and family support is the basis for that success. Jewish, Indian, Chinese, Korean and many other ethnic groups practice this and are successful. Blacks do not as a general rule; nor do they value education in the same way other ethnic groups do.
