Those celebrating the life of John Lewis include former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. In an exclusive interview with "CBS This Morning," they told Gayle King how they were heavily influenced by his leadership.

(snip)

Secretary Clinton: You know, it was such a sense of both personal loss ... and a sense of national tragic loss, especially at this time, Gayle, where his voice, his moral authority is so desperately needed. ... It was such a joy of my life to be his friend, and I want to say something about joy because we talk about his incredible life of service and activism and, yes, putting his life on the line ... (snip)

King: I like what President Clinton said, Madam Secretary, about him showing up because I think the fact that he showed up at a book signing for you at a Costco (snip)

Secretary Clinton: I just remember, you know, looking up and there he was. I was so surprised. And he had that smile on his face that I loved seeing.(snip)

King: What does this loss mean to the country, do you think? Especially at this particular time?

Mr. Clinton: I think one of the things that I did feel very grateful for, having known him for a long, long time, that he lived long enough to see the outpouring of public support. After what happened to George Floyd and all those other fine people who were — lost their lives.

Secretary Clinton: One of the ways to pay tribute to John Lewis is by finally passing the Voting Rights Act once again with teeth and meaning to it and naming it after him. ... Name it the John Lewis Voting Rights Act,

You knew that an interview on this subject with liberals, was going to end with them finding a way to exploit his death to advance the Party's aims, didn't you?

"Whether he was tired or full of energy, he was always there"

The Clinton Criminal Enterprise's graft machine had an enthusiastic cheerleader.

That’s kind of faint praise for a “civil rights icon”. He managed to be places. Wow.

I think we should remember him for braving the racist threats and spitting that didn’t happen when they walked the Obamacare bill to the White House.

“Whether he was tired or full of energy, he was always there”

Translation: He may or may not have been drunk that day but nothing could get keep him away from the catered buffet.

Got to give him his props for that. The saying goes "90% of life is just showing up". Some of the yard apes whom I used supervise never figured that out.

Read a BLM local president state that loyalty and reliability were plantation terms.

Told my son, when you start working after school show up all the time and do what you like doing and you will be fine.

What I remember about him is that nobody would know him if he hadn’t been hit in the head in a protest. I’m glad he’s gone, he was an insufferable, lying, racist jerk.

I will always remember John Lewis. He always showed up and was not afraid to point out that you were a racist, unless you were a Democrat. His eulogy to Robert Byrd was especially touching in that regard: “Robert Byrd: A true statesman.”

He was also steadfast and unmatched in falsely accusing others of using the “N” word.

Obviously, our nation has lost a great leader — who will take his place?
