Born and raised in the SF Bay Area of California. Ive fought the good fight for over 50 years but Im over it and its time to go. Were OUTTA here tomorrow morning!!! Tampa, Florida here we come!
We moved from the Bay Area to the Idaho Panhandle last November. Sold our house and cut all financial ties. Our remaining family (all God fearing Trump supporters) expect to be here in the Spring.
I’m in the SF Bay Area too. All our kids and grandkids are here. But if any of them moved out of state, we’d go too.
LoL not my post, but pinging you anyway. Will touch more on this later and the prayerful words spoken over this state!
We bought a place in Oregon and had lots of cash left over.
Lived in the Bay area as a young lad
in the late 60’s early 70’s. Great place
to grow up, then. Used to spy on the
nude sunbathing hippie chicks at
Sonoma State. Little league baseball
was my primary concern. Glad I have
the memories of a once sane state.
Please be safe in your travels.
Many congrats! I lived in Vallejo for seven years as a kid in the 60s and early 70s. It was a great place then, but a hellhole now.
If Biden wins election, there will be no safe refuge anywhere in the USA.
You lucky dogs!
Congratulations on your escape from Gulag California and your imminent return to the United States of America.
I am just dying to get out of California. I am aiming for eastern Tennessee, coastal South Carolina, southern Alabama, or northeast Florida. My search has been on hold dur to Covid on-off-on-off idiocy and closures. The nice folks here confirmed everything was opened up last month, and then the idiot governors starting closing things back down, requiring quarantines, & etc.
It may be next year, but I just can’t wait for the day to post what you did, “I’m outta here”. Born and raised in San Francisco. Spent all but 3 months of my 60 years living in California, now behind the pink curtain as a partisan fighter of the Resistance, but wanting to make my way back through the front and return to America.
Congrats again. You are doing it right!
Travel safe and prosper in Florida. One thing about it, you are just in time for hurricane season.
Congratulations! Wish I could go. Been here 50 years. Hate it with a passion... But Florida?... Isn’t that like... Out of the frying pan...? I’ve heard some real sketchy things about Florida, not the least of which are its residents. I would think Idaho, Arizona, Alaska... something like that? Anyhow, good luck and contgrats once again!
California is a lost cause. If every California conservative left and moved to a battle ground state like Florida, we could turn the tide in some of those states. What does it matter if the commie Rats win California’s electoral votes by a 60/40 margin or 98/2. Better all Conservatives moved from California and took their votes and tax dollars to swing states instrumental to keeping DemocRATs out of the White House, Senate, and House of Reps.
Conservatives in California are just wasting our votes. We are swamped in California so our votes affect no change or help here. Moving to swing states like Florida, maybe if enough of us move we can push those states back dependably into Republican strongholds.
My vote is completely wasted here in California. Completely. I never win anything in this one party state.
I would take Governor Desantis over California Governor Newsom (Nancy Pelosi’s Nephew) any day. State laws generally trump city laws, so you are much better off living in a liberal city in a conservative state than living in a conservative city in a liberal state.
Congratulation for your big decision! The Florida Gulf Coast is a fine place to live. Hurricane season and all.
Good for you. There are no weirdos in Florida. Err.....well, maybe just a few. Congrats.
Congrats on your move. We fled northern CA 4 years ago and settled in upstate SC, near the Blue Ridge Mts. We love it here....lots of mts and lakes in our region. Everything is so green compared to that awful brownness in our prior region of CA. Housing/taxes/ etc is very affordable.
We are seeing a lot of people moving in from NJ, NY and Penn. They call in to talk radio and complain about a lot of things they dislike in the South ( like “too many churches”). I fear that they are starting to turn this state purple. Some locals are getting fed up and moving to the lake regions. This year we have also seen an influx from Florida-people who came to our area said they got sick of all the traffic issues in the Florida regions they lived it.
Be safe on your travels. It was quite a feat for us to get here, as we brought 11 animals with us! We all made it safely.
I left California 50 years ago and went to Tampa.
It was fairly conservative back then.
Today, not so much.
Turned blue a few years ago. Still way better than anything Calif.
Welcome but Tampa? Its pretty blue too.
Voter registration deadline for August 18 FL state primary is July 20.
Voter registration deadline for the general election is Oct. 5.
Important quality of life information:
You are moving to FL during hurricane season. Learn about hurricane preparation asap. Don't wait until a storm is on the horizon to obtain necessary supplies. Homeowners insurance will not bind a policy when there is a named storm in the Atlantic basin.
Learn about flood prone areas (flood zones) of Tampa and FL. Tampa is at the north end of the Tampa Bay. A storm approaching in the Gulf of Mexico will pile water into Tampa, causing flooding.
Very sorry to hear that South Carolina is under assault from New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. South Carolina is not a populous state, just 5 million people. It would not take many years of New England liberals flooding the state to flip it like Virginia did, and Virginia had over 8 million people. I do NOT want to see South Carolina go blue in my lifetime. No siree bob, I do not.
