Seattle cop DIVES at CHOP demonstrator as officials clear out protest zone and 10 people are arrested after 'bottles, rocks and fireworks' were thrown at them

Seattle police officers on Thursday continued to gradually reclaim the streets from the Capitol Hill Occupied Protest (CHOP) as video shows cops dive-tackling a group of demonstrators at a downtown intersection where 10 people were arrested.

The arrests took place hours after police claimed that demonstrators in the area pelted them with bottles and rocks and shot fireworks in their direction from the same intersection.

A group of police officers on bicycles rode toward a line of demonstrators who appeared to be squatting in the middle of the intersection of Broadway and Pine Street at around 5:30pm on Thursday.

The helmeted officers swiftly got off their bikes and then swooped in to detain the protesters who were blocking the intersection.

One police officer was seen lunging toward a protester and tackling him to the ground. He then appeared to briefly press his knee against the demonstrator’s upper back area.

‘Could you not put your knee on his neck?’ one of the protesters is heard saying.

The officers appeared to push out the protesters from the intersection and established a perimeter.

Several people were seen being taken into custody. During this time, protesters were filming the arrests with their cell phones and in some cases taunting the cops.

‘He will be right back, you dirty pigs! He will be right back!’ one protester is heard yelling toward police after they detained several people.

That is a great maneuver, isolate a single protester, sound the arrest with a bicycle barricade, an then they can finish the arrest. When they move fast like that, the mob can only react, it can't organize a defense or counter attack.

It also serves to encourager les autres. Year ago I was caught between an angry mob and a presidential event, and someone broke through the crown, and ran through a clear space toward where the president was. He was met with a vicious club attack by secret service or police, whoever was defending that area. Everyone there could see it, and it was like: “Oooooo!” Kind of took the heart out of some of the rowdier protesters.

I always wondered if it was staged, for just that effect on the crowd.
