NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said Monday that he hopes former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick will help "guide" the league on issues pertaining to social justice.
The commissioner also said during the interview with ESPN's Mike Greenberg that he would "support" and "encourage" a team signing the controversial signal caller to its roster.
Kaepernick has not played in the league since 2016 when he was released by the 49ers following the season after losing his starting job to Blaine Gabbert. During that same season, he ignited controversy by kneeling during the national anthem at the start of games to protest racial injustice and police brutality in the United States.
"Well, listen, if he wants to resume his career in the NFL, then obviously it's going to take a team to make that decision," Goodell said. "But I welcome that, support a club making that decision and encourage them to do that.

I loved NFL football.
When Tom Landry was fired I never watched another NFL game. That was and is my protest.
I had no problem with Jerry Jones firing Tom Landry though it was stupid. It was his team and Jones’s decision. Tom Landry discovered he was fired by the media and not Jerry Jones. That was just plain damn wrong.
Jerry Jones most obviously does not understand the meaning between class and ass of which the following he is.
The headline should read: “Roger Goodell wants to ruin the NFL”
Only way to go. Put Judas in charge. That’ll fix ‘em.
Don’t watch NFL anymore. Don’t give a damn what they think.

2020 will have few fans in attendance, but they’ll blame Wuhan Flu
TV ratings will drop, but they’ll already get their money from advertisers and network contracts.
Meantime, they’ll hope we forget. But the number of kneelers allowed, including coaches and refs, will be an image no one will ever forget.
We can only hope NHL and MLB learns from what will happen, or Major Sports as we know it will be gone.
And they didn’t lose money last year. They had an exceptional year that’s the sad part

Out of shape racist Colin Kaepernick (2-14 loser) will guide the League on social justice just as well as he guided his team to the bottom of the League. Treason is not acceptable. The NFL needs to die.
