Eleanor Carol Leavell Barr, wife of Kentucky Republican, dead at 39

The wife of Kentucky Congressman Andy Barr died “suddenly” on Tuesday night, reports said.

Eleanor Carol Leavell Barr, who went by Carol, died at the family’s home in Lexington for unspecified reasons, according to the Lexington Herald-Leader. She was 39 years old.

“Congressman Andy Barr’s wife Carol passed away suddenly tonight at the family home in Lexington,” read a statement from Barr’s Chief of Staff Mary Rosado.

“During this tragic time, we respectfully ask for privacy for Congressman Barr and his family to grieve Mrs. Barr being called home to heaven.”

She added: “Congressman Barr may release a more detailed statement at a later date, but right now is solely focused on being a father to his two beautiful daughters.”

Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear said he and his wife were “heartbroken for U.S. Rep. Andy Barr and his family tonight at the sad news of the unexpected passing of the congressman’s wife, Carol.”

Eleanor Barr was the director of the Henry Clay Institute for Statesmanship in Lexington.

Andy Barr, a Republican, has represented Kentucky’s 6th Congressional District since 2013. The couple had been married for 10 years.

All this bullying of white people is not going to endear white people to black people. It is only driving a wedge between people and causing resentment. Some black people may think they are "getting some" of what's due to them, but it is only stoking division.

Accomplished...but one needs to ask why was he overseas and why was someone following him? So we are told he's been under the microscope from the beginning. A priceless move by our President.

It seems to me that the people who are “getting some“ are people who do not have any interest in being a productive citizen anyway. Unfortunately their so-called leaders (black leaders and Dems) benefit by having rioting and looting. In between these two groups are probably many hard-working normal African-American citizens. Everyone but the lowlife looter types and the “leaders” lose.

I have mixed feelings on the no knock...I think in some situations its necessary. A hostage situation especially..and a known or suspected ambush. There are reasons for using it and I'm not the one going into a family domestic fight either....so I am not against it. If a family member were a policeman and I heard their reasoning...I think I would probably go with their argument.

I agree. And yes there are bad people and good people of every race. It just seems to me that the more one group of people keeps shaming another group and demanding more & more from them, even the "normal" people will begin to resent being shamed & extorted.

You are correct. A black former friend of mine called me prejudice because I posted Diamond and Silk's video on facebook. That's when I was on facebook. I was furious and I called her OUT in it! I told her to never call me prejudice and I was very upset over her lack of respect of our friendship. I didn't back down and she eventually walked back her accusation. We were never friends again. She dodged me and then eventually said she was sorry and it wasn't me but many white people. She is part of the big family in my town that my one black friend from Dallas said they would NEVER accept a white being their friend.

A couple years late I saw her and her daughter sitting at a picnic table downtown at our Fall Harvest Homecoming and she yelled to me to come sit down and join her and her daughter. I did join them for a few minutes.

Unfortunately, suppressed racism (blacks towards whites) is more prevalent than we think. It's even in churches.
