It’s just the flu, bro.

Three days in a row of fewer than 800 deaths in USA. R is less than 1 as daily new cases are dropping.

This is really two diseases - the mostly benign version for people 65 and under and the potentially deadly version you see at nursing homes. A friend at a nursing home said that he had one asymptomatic staff member spread it to 22 out of 24 patients. 8 died there. They hired family members to help manage the patients. Tying this back to conservative principles - no abortion means more kids which means more people to take care of the elderly at home. Societies that are worst hit have abandoned the concept of family and require more nursing homes - Italy and Spain commonly have 4 grandparents producing 2 kids, who produce 1 grandchild. That type of pyramid is a disaster with Corona, and in many other ways. The dropping of Western world birth rates to below replacement levels is a disaster caused by people not acting naturally. God always forgives, people sometimes forgive, but nature never forgives.

It’s interesting how even nursing home mortality is lower in some locations versus others (NY and the northeast the worst). Haven’t followed treatment much but I would bet the treatment offered by NY nursing homes is worse than in other nursing homes.

And obviously - the Wuhan Nursing Home Flu shouldn’t continue to be used as an excuse to hold back healthy people!

“This is really two diseases - the mostly benign version for people 65”

Almost 20% of dead in NY were under 60.

I tend to agree with almost everything you say. However this is not two diseases. Respiratory disease (like the flu) tend to be very hard on the elderly and very gojng. What is odd is that this is t hitting kids that hard

Cytokines storm is nothing new. Just another nsme for septic shock and ARDS

I am excited at some of the research this is generating in terms of IL blockers perhaps, a relook at drug therapies like plaquenil, and the research on chlorinated lipids as a bio marker predictive or ARDS is awesome

It’s just being reported and obsessed in. Honestly if anyone but trump were president we would be carrying on as normal right now to

Conservatives seem fixated on the death count rather than total cases terminal and otherwise, one liberal board I frequent pointed out. OTOH the look at the total cases, and instances of difficult breathing, et al.. Any fr eepers pay attention to the effects of CV other than death?

Statistically, the average age at death from the Wuhan flu is greater than the the average life expectancy in the US.

Therefore having a bout of the Wuhan flu may well prolong your life well past the statistical average life expectancy. :)

Statistics... gotta love em.

I took the data from Worldometer and imported it into a spreadsheet so I could see trends better. It's readily obvious that the stats people tend to slow down on weekends and make up for what they missed on Monday and (especially) Tuesday. Hence the wild Up/Down swings ever week. So to smooth that out, I did a simple 7 day moving average. That's showing a very nice nearly linear downward trend for the past three weeks. I would expect that because of the holiday the gret numbers over the weekend are a a little less great than reported and we'll see the usual Tuesday peak on Wednesday because of the extended weekend. If that doesn't happen then it's really great news.

GREGG COUNTY — The Gregg County Sheriff’s Office updated the community on events regarding COVID-19 in jail facilities. According to our news partner KETK, mass testing for the virus was conducted for all staff and inmates at the north and south jail facilities on May 19. A total of 685 tests were administered. Results showed that all inmates housed at the south facility tested negative for COVID-19, but 38 inmates housed at the north jail facility tested positive for the virus. One jail staff member tested positive, but there was no information regarding which facility they work at. The Sheriff’s Office also mentioned all the inmates and the staff member are asymptomatic. All positive inmates are being closely monitored and the staff member has been placed on leave pending a negative test result.

38 asymptomatic cases in one jail. We've been had.

I drove back home from Florida today. Stopped at Cracker Barrel, marking the 5th day in a row that I ate at a sit-down restaurant.

No mask. I feel bold.
