At least 4 states combined numbers from two tests, possibly providing a misleading picture of coronavirus spread
Virginia, Texas, Georgia, and Vermont have said they’ve been adding two numbers to their totals: viral test results and antibody test results.
Viral tests are taken by nose swab or saliva sample, and look for direct evidence someone currently has Covid-19. By contrast, antibody tests use blood samples to look for biological signals that a person has been exposed to the virus in the past.

Comment: why do this? It muddies the waters, keeping people from knowing what the current case counts are. You know, we criticized China and Iran for playing with their numbers like this. I think to be consistent we need to call out these officials, whether Republicans or Democrats, when they play with the numbers like this.
So, how did the guy die? Did he fall down a set of stairs? Had a car wreck? A plane crash? Ate a poisoned apple? Or severe organ complications from the bullet? If it were complications from the bullet, then he died from being shot no matter how long ago, imo.

Lower TT and cFT were found in the transferred to ICU/deceased in RICU group vs. groups of patients transferred to IM or maintained in the RICU in stable condition. Both TT and cFT showed a negative significant correlation with biochemical risk factors (i.e. the neutrophil count, LDH and PCT) but a positive association with the lymphocyte count. Likewise, TT was also negatively associated with CRP and ferritin levels. A steep increase of both ICU transfer or mortality risk was observed in men with TT<5 nmol/L or cFT< 100 pmol/L.

Seems like every day we hear something different
I hate the holiday crowds here. More so this year. They’re already starting up. To be sure, we’ll have another uptick in two weeks as tourists from elsewhere bring it in and it starts spreading.
August will be interesting as schools start again.
Today may be the last day to do errands. Or by noon tomorrow.
Not buying it, either. Disinfected my own keyboard (old one) before using it this morning. Same with the tv remote. Washing my hands everytime I go into the kitchen and leave the bathroom no matter what I do in there. Use my own spoon for the sweetener.
Nope. Will check around again in a few days. Still having to type slow and hit some keys several times.

My son, is the keyboard guru, he suggested wetting a Q-tip, or edge of a paper towel in rubbing alcohol and running it between the keys to clean out the gunk.
The issue is dose. By air there's not a lot of dose from breathing. Coughing, sneezing, yelling, talking and singing have lot higher numbers of droplets and particles.
On a surface there can be a lot more particles in a droplet but picking it up and getting it in your mouth is much more random. Claims that people touch their eyes without realizing it? That's pretty much a myth.
The bottom line is we completely control what we touch. We can't control someone talking at or around us. There are a lot of people who simply can't shut up. They are at the store blabbering to the cashier or anyone else they can find.
“This upcoming weekend is a good time to avoid crowds,”
We are headed to the beach, ended up grabbing a condo since the campgrounds were still lockdown. My wife cannot be in direct sun light so we will be staying in a condo and hanging out on a balcony. Maybe walk on the beach early in the morning and at sun down. Plan on cooking our own food. We should be able to avoid the crowds with no problem.
At the end of June I have a camp site reserved. Our camper is self contained so we do not need to use the site facilities.
Having a camper is the better way to go, you can always find a state or national camp site with lots of space between the sites.
Like the one who blabbered to the Walmart cashier that she had CV and our relatives were next in line. The cashier didn’t shut down and immediately call for disinfectant. Relatives got to self quarantine for a month.
Yes, already done. Twice since yesterday. The old (currently being used) keyboard keys popped off within the first three days of purchase. I and the computer repair place can’t get them pushed back on. The newer keyboard (that quit a few days ago) just stopped working on several keys for no reason other than the internet service went out that morning. It zapped a bunch of stuff on the computer. Don’t know if that outage also zapped the keyboard or what. People say it doesn’t work that way but have had similar happen at the same time as outrages before. No lightening but a simple outage somewhere along the line perhaps miles away. Yes, it’s on a surge protector. It didn’t do anything to hubby’s computer.
It’s very sad that so many people are being fooled by this trick. Two columnists I just read today have fallen for it. Combined with their poor understanding of how bioengineered epidemiology is different from the usual, it makes them not worth reading anymore.
We aren’t told precisely but I’m sure Elmore Leonard was on the side of the guy who got shot. The cop makes an outraged comment to someone that the guy was a quadriplegic when he died (he got hit in the spine from the front), as if that makes it not the cop’s fault.
This character is hilarious. One of Leonard’s rib-busting unconscious comics. I am laughing all over again with these books. They’re even funnier the second time.
Also the antibody tests, some of them at least, seem to be only 50% accurate. There are a lot of hasty and faulty tests out there apparently.
This may have been what the woman reporter was asking about at the very end of one of the pressers. She called them junk tests. But did she mean the swabs etc. or the antibody tests? We never found out because Trump left at that point.
Well, to their credit, they said it is less transmissible, no intransmissible, from surfaces. I find that to be a relief, since I now don’t feel like I must clean and disinfect doorknobs, surfaces, recycling bin lid, etc.* as though my OCD were raging out of control.
*I may still do that from time to time, especially after a trip to the store, where the people coming and going could ensure a higher viral load than is on my trash can or in my mailbox.
Yup. There was one yesterday in the stationery store, berating the poor clerk loudly (even with a mask on it’s not such a great idea virus-wise). I told her off and left as soon as I could.
Another today sat less than 6 feet away and started talking with her mask on, but soon took it off because I couldn’t hear what she was saying with all the street traffic. Bye!
It’s unfortunate because it’s nice to have someone to talk with in person for a change, and she seemed interesting, knew Muhammad Ali in Kentucky.
