Doctors Petition USDA to Warn Consumers About Potential Presence of SARS-CoV-2 on Meat and Poultry Products

Slaughterhouses have become a primary vector for spread of coronavirus, petition explains

May 20, 2020 07:30 AM Eastern Daylight Time
WASHINGTON—(BUSINESS WIRE)—The Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine—a nonprofit with more than 12,000 doctor members—has filed an Emergency Petition with the U.S. Department of Agriculture requiring that slaughterhouses test meat and poultry for SARS-CoV-2 prior to making it available for sale and requiring groceries to warn consumers of the potential presence of SARS-CoV-2 on meat and poultry products.....

..Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, thousands of slaughterhouse workers have been infected with SARS-CoV-2. As of May 14, there were at least 14,259 infections and 59 deaths among U.S. slaughterhouse workers, according to the Food & Environment Reporting Network...

...The petition, filed by Mark Kennedy, vice president for Legal Affairs at the Physicians Committee, says, “Because these workers, who may be asymptomatic viral carriers, directly handle meat and poultry products, and because SARS-CoV-2 is easily airborne, remaining detectable for 30 minutes or more in air samples, transmission of the virus to the products they handle is likely.”

Researchers have not specifically tested the temperature at which meat and poultry products would have to be heated to kill SARS-CoV-2....

Good question. Initial viral load may have been enough to break through the dose of HCQ she was on.

She didn’t die.

She probably has antibodies.

Hopefully no long term effects.

I have read that lupus patients sometimes get lax and forgetful with their HCQ doses. It’s not an every day thing. And as long as they’re feeling good they can easily forget to take their dose. Maybe that’s what happened here.

And for everyone wondering how people get infected AT HOME (the nyc admissions story that wont’ go away)...clearly they didn’t STAY at home.

I have to wonder what sort of viral load it took to infect her and how she ran across that. Not victim blaming mind you, just curious.

Like the lady a month or so ago who ‘never left her home but got infected’. Come to find out she DID leave her home...to go to a pharmacy, which is where she got the woowoo.

We put about half of ours ‘up’ for a rainy day.

Spent some of it at small businesses.

Spent some of it on garden supplies, dirt, tools, fruit trees, etc.

Certainly didn’t spend it all on a TV.

I always assume that unless my hubby killed that critter that the meat I purchase is a toxic waste dump of microbes.

And I’m definitely NOT careless with the meat hubby kills either.

About that cute Florida project leader on the dashboard...

Usually a new project is created by a very capable person.
Once that is done it’s then turned over to another (usually competent but no great shakes person) to maintain it.
I think that’s what’s happening here- it’s what usually happens.

I’ve never heard anything like it! I don’t think to warrants because they are calling out names of whole families and children. Weird. And disturbing

Can’t imagine why they’d do that and then list the medications if it were for contact tracing though.

It’s the calling out the meds that makes me wonder...

https://www.christianpost.com/news/georgia-church-closes-two-weeks-after-reopening-as-families-come-down-with-coronavirus-236899/

“Catoosa Baptist Tabernacle, an independent Baptist church led by Pastor Justin Gazaway in Ringgold, Georgia, restarted in-person services on April 26. Church representative Joan Lewis told The Christian Post on Monday, however, that they decided to suspend “in-person worship services for the foreseeable future” on May 11 after learning several families had contracted the virus.

“Our hearts are heavy as some of our families are dealing with the effects of the COVID-19 virus, and we ask for your prayers for each of them as they follow the prescribed protocol and recuperate at home,” the church said in a formal statement.”

I have to wonder what sort of viral load it took to infect her and how she ran across that.

Lupus is an autoimmune disorder. People with Lupus are more susceptible to viral infections. HCQ has never been studied or evaluated as a prophylaxis for viral infections in people with a compromised immune system. While it MAY have the same antiviral effects (an effect we do not fully understand), it might not be enough in a person with an autoimmune disease. HCQ alone clearly isn't the miracle drug we hoped for, but this story seems a bit silly, and only aimed at attacking Trump and the fact that he is taking the drug himself.

From lupus.org:

First, lupus itself can make infections occur more often: the way lupus affects the immune system can sometimes limit the body's ability to fight off foreign invaders, such as bacteria and viruses. Second, people with lupus often take immunosuppressive medicines to control their overactive immune system.

If they were MORE susceptible, that a lupus patient was infected with the woowoo wouldn’t be newsworthy.

They’d be dropping like the nursing home inhabitants.

There’s a statement out now countering her story, something to do with insubordination. I’ll have to wait and see on this one. It seemed clear before, but I’ll read what they say.

Wouldn’t surprise me if there was insubordination.
People who create a project naturally feel like it’s their “baby” and resent turning it over to a “maintainer”.

She done good, hope she has a bright future- with someone who can put up with a “prima donna” of sorts.

Ge, I’ve gotten so I don’t accept ANY covid reporting.

Being "more susceptible" doesn't mean they are like a 95 year old with diabetes, heart failure and hypertension.

From the article:

she thought she would be safe because of what President Donald Trump has said about the drug.

and the coup de grâce

“You’re not safe taking that medication at all. Hydroxychloroquine is not going to prevent anything. You can still get coronavirus,” she said. “It kind of makes me mad that Trump thinks it’s going to do that and is telling the whole world it’s going to do that.”

^^^this is why it's news.

If that were the case, they’d ALL be getting it.

That SHE got it is news.

Because they’re NOT all getting it.

Rummy Chick has a lot of research on this.

Not only are they getting it LESS than you’d expect for ‘vulnerable’ people, they’re ALSO getting it less than EVERYONE ELSE.

Yeah, we are handling store bought meat with gloves now. Most of our meat is from one cow from a local farm we bought in January, thankfully

The headline is fear-mongering as it is voluntary, but nevertheless, I won’t be opening the door

Georgia kicks off chilling door-to-door COVID-19 blood collections

Let the government-pressed coronavirus-tied blood collections of citizens begin.
And begin they have.
They have in Georgia at least, where the state’s Department of Public Health recently announced, in cooperation with both Fulton County and Dekalb counties’ Boards of Health, that “to learn more about the spread of COVID-19,” an “investigation” has commenced — and it’s an “investigation” that’s leading government officials to make random stops at randomly selected residences and ask random citizens for, get this, their blood.

LOL! “I vant your blood!”

A large random test is a great idea.
Plenty of people will participate. No need to coerce anyone as the testers can just move to next randomly selected person if someone refuses. Won’t affect the usefulness of the test.
