Need sewing machine help, please. The needle won’t turn with the foot petal and is next to impossible to turn by the hand knob. Yes, I took it apart and cleaned it on the inside as best I could. Still won’t work.

Blah sewing machine and computer broke this afternoon. Apparently, EVERYTHING is Made in China.

Wally World swore they didn’t have a sewing machine in the store or warehouse. Same with computers. Hubby went into the likely infected store and found a plain jane machine so I’m happy. Well, we’ll see since it’s outside.

All I need for the computer is a working keyboard but he’s buying a new laptop. I’m having a hard time find a keyboard. Closest one is in Canada and site looks iffy. Will try Ebay tomorrow. Horrid Amazon doesn’t have any. I’m using an old keyboard and a few keys aren’t working so excuse the typing.

I’m over this CV. Life needs to get back to normal but it won’t. Can’t get simple groceries, sewing machine, computer and vehicle parts. Can’t even get a 5 gal plastic cooler.

Thanks for any help with the sewing machine. It just stopped in the middle of sewing.

Long term, get an old Singer or vintage 1950/60s Japanese machine off craigslist.

If the machine is hard to turn over without it threaded, there may be a bunch of thread or gunk stuck someplace. If it is hard to turn over while threaded, it may be the upper tension is messed up (or knot of thread stuck in there). Also, check the bobbin case, and by the feed to make sure there isn’t a knot of thread or other junk jammed up in there.

“Sorry - Pier 1 was in trouble before the CCP Flu shutdowns started”

So, basically, CCP-19 attacks the economy the same way it attacks the body. If there is a problem, CCP-19 kicks it into high gear and it kills the host quickly - even a host that might have otherwise have managed the issue or been cured.

And, it’s still NOT the flu.

"Cycle of 50-day strict lockdowns with 30 days off after each could be the safest way to beat coronavirus, Cambridge scientists say - but it would take more than 18 MONTHS to be rid of the disease"

I can see some people blowing their tops if they read this. I really pray those Researchers are wrong. The USA would end up in Civil War if the government tried this.

So sorry to hear about your machine woes.

I agree w/everything in IA said.

I’m ready to pitch my Janome out of the window. I always resort back to one of my vintage Singer machines.

Here’s a link to a keyboard, at Best Buy...

Hard to turn with and without thread. The belt is fine. Took the bobbin apart. Thinking it’s somewhere in the top part and likely the tension. Took a flashlight to it and it wasn’t too dirty considering.

It is a 25 year old plain jane Singer but I’ve never been happy with it. It’s always had a tension problem and breaking threads. Have to take the foot off and turn the machine upside down to thread the needle. You’d think Singer would know better after a century or so.

This is the Model 15, the most common generic straight stitch sewing machine model produced around the world continuously by various companies/countries since the 1880s. Your machine probably has cams or a zig zag function that comes in handy, but is more complex and so more things to go wrong with. I've mainly used a sewing machine to repair clothes so a Model 15 has been more than enough for what I need.

Hubby said Walmart told him that everyone used their COVID government checks to buy the biggest tv they could buy and no one used it to pay bills.

Hmm, about what we suspected would happen. Same thing happened with the freebie Katrina money.

Oops, guess I’m in that group, too, since I bought a new over priced not what I wanted computer (for lack of a $20 keyboard) and a sewing machine that’s pretty much what I wanted. So, go ahead and kick my backside!

I dragged out the even older sewing machine, New Home, to work on but it was in bad shape which caused the purchase of the current broken Singer. Can’t remember what its problem was but know the reverse broke long, long ago.

I have my great grandmother’s treadle Singer and the receipt. It needs a belt which we couldn’t find way back when. It has dozens of neat attachments and do dads. Sad, the story is the first thing she made on it was a burial dress for a friend’s baby girl. She was a great seamstress so the dress probably was detailed. I have a toddler dress she made my grandmother which is beautiful. Four generations have had their picture taken wearing it.

What wonderful history your great grandmother handcrafted and handed down to the generations!

I have a quilt that my GG made. Beautiful.

My sis got the quilting frame, I got a quilt. Happy with my gift.

Looking at ways to rearrange my craft room, now.

What a snarky article, from the lefty Yahoo news....

...Gov Kemp, who is a close ally of Trump.....in TX, with another Gov who is close to Trump....etc.

Can libs do anything that isn’t politicized? It makes their *news* sound tainted, from the get go.

The fired FL healthcare lady sounds like she has a lot of sour grapes.

Deep Dive: Devastating Report Exposes Cuomo and De Blasio’s Disastrous Coronavirus Response

After enjoying many weeks of media hero worship — including numerous cutesy interviews with his brother, a CNN anchor who violated his quarantine while symptomatic and contagious with the virus, then lied about it — New York Governor Andrew Cuomo is finally facing serious scrutiny for his policies and decisions throughout the outbreak that has devastated his state. We’ve been telling you about the failures involving New York City’s subway system, as well as the extremely reckless and lethal policies that forced or allowed COVID-positive residents and employees into nursing homes. As bad as New York’s death toll has been in these older care facilities, it looks like the state has been caught downplaying the statistics:

NEW OUTBREAK: CHURCHES FORCED TO RECLOSE

Two southern churches forced to reclose after leaders, congregants get coronavirus
By Aris Folley - 05/19/20 07:29 PM EDT

Two churches in Georgia and Texas that reopened recently amid the novel coronavirus pandemic have since closed their doors again after churchgoers and religious leaders tested positive for the virus, according to multiple media reports.

A representative for the Catoosa Baptist Tabernacle in Ringgold, Ga., told The Christian Post in a statement on Monday that church decided earlier this month to no longer offer “in-person worship services for the foreseeable future” after confirming some of its families were “dealing with the effects of the COVID-19 virus.”

The church said it had initially resumed in-person services weeks back as Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp began to ease coronavirus restrictions on nonessential businesses in April. At the time, the church said it had also made sure to adhere to social distancing guidelines advised to mitigate the spread of COVID-19.

“Seating was marked to only permit sitting within the six-foot guidelines, all doors were open to allow access without the touching of doors, and attendees were asked to enter in a social distancing manner and were dismissed in a formal manner as well to ensure that the social distancing measures were adhered by all,” the church told the outlet.

However, the church said it ultimately decided to discontinue all in-person services last week “until further notice in an effort of extreme caution for the safety and well-being of our families.”

So now I officially know 2 people who have it.

My nephew - about 40, lives in Manhattan. He has been sick for a month. He had just had his first 3 days without a cough. Had chest pain, light difficulty breathing and some weird symptoms- like all his fingers turned bright white and were freezing.

2- A good friend of ours who lives in Stockholm. Has been extremely sick for 8 weeks. Has been to the ER twice. He is 48. Yesterday was the first day in 8 weeks he was able to work 2 hours. He said it is the dickest he has ever been, nothing even comes close.
