I am a veteran criminal law attorney who has tried more than 300 criminal jury trials, handled thousands of other criminal cases, racially-divisive cases, etc. We have dozens of "citizen lawyers" on Free Republic who are posting insane, inane, wrong, and crazy "facts," "law," and conclusions. I have studied this case inside and out. Let me give you some insight, and feel free to post some questions....
Yes he was an idiot. Glad you see that.
The two shooters are in jail without bail facing years in jail if convicted. I'm not sure how smart they're feeling right about now. If only they had turned the police scanner off.
Well, I would never grab a shotgun, if that is what you mean.
I think the collective IQ in the whole event was breaking 50.
Yes and he was heard singing zip a dee doo dah as he merrily jigged along through the big oaks with moss

So yes...these guys deserve some time in Prison.

Your opinion. Which is irrelevant.
What is relevant is your total disregard of the law. Upthread you stated you wish you could be on the jury. Benjamin Crump and the BLM crowd would love to have you.
People like you got OJ off as they also ignored the law. And instead ignored the facts and went with raw ignorant opinions.
Go back to my original question: If Arbery had been armed and shot one or both of these dudes, would it be a case of justifiable self defense?
It appears he was attempting to arm himself by disarming one of his pursuers. And I have no doubt a claim of self defense would have been claimed. Whether or not that claim would sway would be dependent on the victims actions just prior to the incident along with any history of running afoul of the law.
“Upthread you stated you wish you could be on the jury.”
Worse than that, he said: “What they did was wrong. I wish I could be on the jury. None of your legal issues matter.”
Contrast this with the real Constitution which protects the rights of those accused by the government: “ . . . trial, by an impartial jury of the State and district wherein the crime shall have been committed . . .”
I am just cautious whenever anyone, no matter how well intentioned, advocates undermining constitutional safeguards.
So, you think this entire situation is “morally” right.
Not legally right. But morally.
I am not fan of BLM. I am a fan of using the police force to do their jobs. I am a fan of using common sense in situations like this. There are many other ways they could have solved the issue—and none of them involve firearms.
What these guys did was morally wrong. It was wrong on any common sense scale.
And in terms of putting themselves in Jeopardy, it clearly was the wrong thing to do.
Unfortunately, there are a lot of Freepers who think its find to chase down a guy in the street and detain them, with firearms pulled.
There was no crime committed that warranted this guy being detained with firearms. That is not the purpose of the second amendment. They were not protecting themselves or their property. They were not defending against tyranny.
They were bullies who thought they had gotten themselves a “boy.”
The list of stuff the guy posted might be the “legal” aspect of this. I wouldn’t want those fools as my neighbors. You probably would.
You really ought read up on the facts before you spout nonsense.
Do you really not know that Arbery was the aggressor here? That Arbery took a swing at the son? That Arbery lunged at the son and grabbed the shotgun?
These are facts, son. Not opinions.
[Oh, I see ... so if Im walking in the park tomorrow and a couple of armed guys come up and say theyre arresting me, Im supposed to just take their word for it? LOL.]
Yes we know
Snotty yankee moves south
Youre better than us
Believe me weve heard it.
“Even in Red States, you are not allowed to gun down people in the streets...innocent or not.”
Even in Red States . . .?
To be clear, the Red States are the ones that believe in personal liberty, constitutional rights, and generosity towards their fellow man.
The vast majority of people in Georgia - white and black - would give a stranger the shirt off their backs if needed.
No, I don’t live in Georgia and yes, I don’t like Georgia football.
Maybe he was casing the property for a follow up visit.
Oh you really are clueless aren’t you? Police scanner?
What on the police scanner did they hear that made them pursue the thug?
Because of the rebuttable presumption that you are one of the smartest people on this site.
And now there’s new black and white surveillance video of him at night shirtless in the SAME house.
How about that!
Same in Jackson Mississippi where Im from
Not so much here in Nashville to be honest
Too many naive hipster rich neighborhoods bordering the ghetto to plunder I suppose
You were the one talking about Red States. Do you even read what you write?
Why did he do that? You cannot start the story in the middle. Did they guy simply walk up to him with a gun, without any reason.
I asked you before if you thought this was a morally justified killing.
If you think it is, it answers a lot of questions.
I've noticed that "virtue signalling" seems to be a "thing" now, due process is ignored and "FReepers" are buying what the press is selling.
I used to laugh when that "dying press trademark" was posted years ago. The press is NOT dying. They are as powerful as ever. The Arbery case and the Covid panic are proof.
Stay safe and have a great day my friend!
