As a result of the coronavirus outbreak and the subsequent economic ramifications, the food agency found an additional 130 million people could be on the brink of starvation by the end of the year. The working poor would be hit the hardest as a result of the decline in tourism and exports, collapse of oil prices and any declines to foreign aid.
The resulting death toll could outpace that of the coronavirus with 300,000 people dying due to starvation every day over a three-month period, the agency reported.

Thoughts?

Thoughts? Hell, wed better give the UN a trillion dollar line of credit. /sarc
The U N needs to go out of business. Permanently.
Now they are just getting desperate.
It’s pretty sad when the F’n UN (and I don’t like them anymore than anyone else on FR) has to point out what an awful lot of Americans are blind to.
Starting to see articles on this theme from MSM like NY Times or WaPo. I have no use for these sources, but at this point I’ll take anything if it will wake people up.
Many third world countries could be devastated by this. Not so much the sickness, but the shutdown of economies as they have no slack to absorb the shock. Some barely ate each day, as it was.

I got a barrel of flour Lord I got a bucket of lard
I ain’t got no blues got chickens in my backyard.
And deer in my field, and “Slow Elk” up the hill.
“Thoughts?”
Might be a good time to start some victory gardens.
They could screw outer space up too...!!!
I am certain that if we put our money and trust in the UN it can solve all problems in the world. (Is a sarcasm tag really necessary?)
Piss on the deep state U.N.
Close it down, raze the site, make a park.
But we flattened the curve!
now millions are going to starve. Talk about shooting yourself in the face.
Every decision has a cost.
There is meat but the stock fluctuates and it's no longer fully stocked as it has always been before.
There are also "holes" in shelves of various products which are not being fully restocked such as rice and rice products.
From what I'm reading on line different areas are being impacted by different shortages.
There is now some toilet paper but the shelves have never been fully re-stocked for the last two months.
If we don't reopen soon shortages are going to become more pronounced and if people start noticing dwindling food supplies in super markets I can see a wave of food panic coming.
BTW, this is EXACTLY why I was so horrified by the shutdown.
People focus on their own individual lives, but this incredible machine called civilization cannot just be shut down. One thing depends on another.
WHO is to blame for this.
Trump needs to make states open up. He needs to be a leader.
I don’t mind stealing bread, no i don’t mind stealing bread!!
“The resulting death toll could outpace that of the coronavirus with 300,000 people dying due to starvation every day over a three-month period, the agency reported.”
Well, then we better get back to work so we can afford to feed ourselves, our families and donate extra food to those in need...
Then again, why aren’t they working?
