Political is one thing, being prevented from working, going to the beach, opening your store or restaurant, hiking in the park, going to church, etc is something way beyond “political”.

I would think false arrest would fall under kidnapping -

I’ve been on a local bike trail the past two Sundays. Lots of people out, especially great to see families with kids on bikes! Both times I’ve met this young couple pedalling along wearing face masks. Hate to stereotype but I automatically think they’re mask-signalling - superior to the rest of us. Many older folks, no masks because it’s the open air for cripesakes and you can’t get closer than 6 ft. from others unless you try.
I have a question:
The federal government has lots of emergency powers up to martial law but Trump has deferred to the states, which is how it should be under federalism.
Governors of states have emergency powers too. States have the ability to control businesses, because that again is a state function. Different states charge different business taxes, have different laws regarding alcohol, etc. I get it - state Governors can use their emergency powers to close or restrict businesses.
But what about individuals? How can a state override or negate my federally-granted bill of rights? My right to free speech or to practice religion does not change when I cross a state line. (Sadly gun owernship laws do, but that’s another story).
It seems to me that states can control businesses (and businesses can control what happens in their stores) - but states have no control over individuals that deny them the protection of the bill of rights.

I heard this on the radio. This is the annual Hurricane Preparedness Week with Hurricane Season just around the bend, starting on June 1. But it Is interesting, especially with that “boom week ahead” warning from the quoracle.
The concept of intentional release by a state level party is very touchy due in part to our policy regarding chemical and biological weapons. That policy is nuclear response. If the enemy thinks that we know it as being an intentional act and have not taken our stated retaliatory measure (or issued an ultimatum) they will consider they achieve a big victory through this, and that American politicians are spineless with respect to defending the republic over their political and financial interests.
I’m gonna expect a payoff on the head shaving part. We’re gonna need before and after pics...
