How can this level of tyranny be justified for what is really just the flu? Even though this overblown Wuhan flu crisis isn’t over, just think of the next virus pandemic when some children might actually die. The media will clamor for another lockdown - politicians will react accordingly because they don’t want the blood of the children on their hands. They now have the blueprint for obtaining more socialism in the future.
This social distancing is not natural. Anything that involves widespread, sustained and significant deviations from natural human behavior will lead to terrible consequences. And whoever suggests this deviation is likely a leftist tyrant.
Newsom is an idiot and closing California beaches because of Wuhan flu is idiotic. Is it truly healthier to be stuck in your home all day or to be out in the sun? At least some steps toward freedom are happening in some Red states - let’s keep the progress coming there.
Who expected to become a fan of Elon Musk and Sweden before this started? A Flubro commented recently that he will never make fun of Sweden again.

A virus behaves like....well, a virus.
It has a predictable lifecycle. It emerges. It spreads. It has a period of dominance over hosts that have no immunity. The immunity starts to build. Various environmental factors start to act on it. It mutates. It moves in the direction of becoming less virulent under the laws of natural selection.
Feapers would have us believe that this virus obeys NONE of those laws. In order to believe that you’d have to think that this is an incredibly deadly engineered bioweapon (which personally I think would still have to behave more or less as a virus).
And if you believe that this is an unquenchable Chuck Norris super virus that won’t follow the pattern of any past one, I would not be going to the beer store and eating Domino’s pizza. The National Guard would be out patrolling under martial law.

As to the bioweapon, I have held the position (and I suppose I continue to hold it) that this IS a bioweapon, but it fizzled. Sort of like dropping a nuke that never actually achieved chain reaction. Sounds plausible to me. If it were a viable bioweapon I think we’d be seeing much higher levels of death. If it was some lame attempt the engineer who came up with it was canned and likely shot.

They are not "demonstrably incorrect." They are allegedly incorrect based on hysterical rantings by people thinking it's all some big conspiracy.
Again, the 2018-2019 flu deaths are estimated to be between 30,000 and 60,000. They can be off by as much as 30,000, and you are worried about exact accuracy on this epidemic?!
Epidemic numbers are never precise. There is some degree of error in them no matter what you do, and despite all the hyperventilating about people "padding" the numbers, I think they are probably accurate to within 10%, which is a way less error margin then last year's flu.

Hardly. We have very few cases in my county, and I do not have a lot of contact with much of the public. I have less odds of catching this thing then most.
I just think that sometimes fools rush in where angels fear to tread.
