Futures markets.
With the lockdowns and all, there is much lower usage.
Russa and Saudi Arabia chose that moment -- a few weeks ago -- to try to drive the US shale oil out of business by *increasing* production.
Now they are literally out of places to store the oil when it is pumped, except a few supertankers on the ocean.
Landlocked producers, like some Western Canadian sources, have literally had their futures price go *NEGATIVE*.
BTW, all this is only for futures contracts in May, which expire tomorrow.
June contracts are priced around $22/barrel.

I don’t think so. There are 3-4 reserves—each one of which could keep the USA in plenty of oil even with increased use—for 400 years. And a new one or 2 were just discovered on the North Slope.

Who's going to drill and produce for $5 a BBL? Breakeven is probably around $35.
