“My concern was maybe these might be too air flow restrictive”
My brother who works in AC insist it run the electric bill up a little because of restriction. If you air flow gets to restricted it can freeze the unit up, so it is important stay on top of filter change outs.
I will have to ask him again.
You’re right.
We have a pressure canner. Have just never canned meat.
That will probably be a summer/fall project for us to clean out the freezer, just in case.
It’s for my mom. She wants one. She’s 80 and doesn’t have a mixer with dough hook anymore.
She wants something she can dump in ingredients in the morning and have bread at lunch. With no other inputs.
She’s not going to throw a fit if she doesn’t get one though. Mainly I’m watching them to see if the projected ship date changes as that, IMHO, is a sign things are getting back to normal. Based on the delta yesterday/today wrt ship date, that’s a big no for ‘back to normal’.
That was my concern, but I don’t see any difference in airflow. The best way to determine if it’s a factor would be to check the amp draw at the blower motor. Likewise, too little restriction can also create problems. Read the Amazon customer comments. That’s what we do.
When I can meat, I kind of precook it.
I cube it and cook it for a maybe 15-20. It shrinks the meat some and gets some of the liquid out. Then I put the meat and broth in the canning jars and put them in the canner and away you go.
It’s actually a very simple process.
I know pressure canners intimidate a lot of people but I’ve had mine for years and it just keeps going.
Yeah, I’m a pressure canner chicken.
Need to get my MIL involved when we do this the first time. I think she precooks her meat before she cans it too.
We’re interested in canning stuff in the pint jars, like soup. So hubby could just grab a jar and take it and a bowl/spoon to work for lunch. Quick, convenient, cheap, and we can provide the meat, broth and veg ourselves.
I see.
I can see where someone older would have trouble kneading bread.
At the time, it was discounted from the usual $99 to about $65. It works great with Alexa. You can even have Alexa switch it from heating to cooling, or visa-versa, and schedule both heating and cooling to change temps at bedtime and again at morning time.
Best of all, our power company gave us a $100 energy efficiency rebate! I installed it myself.
I have a funny supply chain story. So, sometime in Feb, I ordered garlic from what looked like a US company. Turns out it is a China supplier. I found out 3 weeks ago, and cancelled the order. Never heard back.
Found out today, it is being delivered today.
Do I plant it (probably too late in GA) or chunk it?
Thank you Lil. Means a lot, and she really needs them.

Probably as they all seem to tweet the same thing. I see so few pro- trump tweets, its discouraging.
I recently saw something about pressure canning beef stew in a jar and it showed the meat layer in the bottom, then a layer of potatoes, a layer of carrots, and a layer of onions, with all the veggies fresh. I cannot find the article again.
I thought that was a very creative way of doing it. That way, when you canned it everything cooked together at once.
There’s lots of recipes online and lots of advice on how to do it.
Also, the recommendation is to not use flour when pressure canning as it makes sterilization difficult. So it would be more like soup, with broth and not gravy.
I have garlic on order that I expect come fall. I don’t know the source but will be planting it regardless.
Most garlic comes from China anyways, but I figure that after a few generations of being grown in my garden, any contaminants or impurities are likely gone.
These are such hard times where our parents are concerned. My husbands dad has mild dementia. So he is able to live at home, and he is 10 minutes from us. We still get his groceries and put his weeks meds into pill box, but the lack of personal interaction is rough on him. He doesnt come here because DH job is too risky for him. Weve been able to manage his dementia so far, but he is going downhill
Good points, hopefully its not to late to plant in GA
