take a day away from this at least once a week.

I took the morning off--definitely good idea. :-)

He didn’t even slam the distributors. He basically said that 3M had ramped up production and we were ingrates for questioning their patriotism. He also said that if they screwed over foreign buyers it would come back to bite us when the foreign buyers blocked us from their products, something they are doing now anyway.

“It looks more and more like the decision has been made that slowing the virus wins out over saving the economy.”

The economy can be rebuilt, people cannot be rebuilt.

I would see this as a bottom for the market, as COVID 19 will most likely come nowhere near Fauci’s hair in fire numbers, except:

1) Fauci and other public health officials seem to enjoy pulling the rug from out of under Trump’s feet by making wild demands like keeping the lockdown in place for 18 months, or sending police forces out to patrol neighbourhoods.

2)The media is determined to keep the population scared with no regard to any perspective, and seem to be very successful in their efforts.

The reality may be rosy, but right now the markets are vulnerable to perception. Very annoying because it makes the markets utterly unpredictable.

Hurting the economy leads to deaths just like the virus does.

The balance is the question and I don’t have the answer, just observing.

One of the numbers I look at most closely is today’s deaths divided by total deaths.

That is a solid indicator (in most cases) of how steep the curve is in a given area, regardless of how well they are testing and reporting.

Today’s winner looks like Mexico:

Today: 13 CV deaths
Total: 50 CV deaths.

Of course those numbers are wildly understated, but that is a red flag that Mexico is a country to watch.

Mexico City has a population of 8.9 million.

https://www.reuters.com/article/us-health-coronavirus-mexico/coronavirus-infects-29-medical-workers-at-mexico-hospital-idUSKBN21J3W2

The high temperature today in Mexico City is 78 degrees.

Sam:

We have been studying this virus for weeks and weeks, reading thousands of sources, and comparing notes and discussing all of them.

Conclusion: Nobody knows what the numbers will look like when this is over.

Nobody.

I really want to take my dogs for a water hike.

I think I’m going to do that soon regardless of any risk.

My opinion... not that you asked lol...

I think the balance is the key. Cannot let either one “crash”

It’s going to be a delicate dance between the two, but I trust that the President is up to the task. He has to go with his gut and not those who want to pull him too far in either direction.

Do it, you’ll be fine. Just keep a wide berth of people.

Dayum!

At the hotel I am staying at they just wheeled out an old man resident with “flu like symptoms”.

Paramedics in biohazard suits.

At least I have my own air supply in the room!

But I am genuinely freaked out.
