Civil liberties are being stripped away - especially in Dem states/cities.
Number dead will be way under the number dead from flu when this is over.
There is zero comparison to either of those things. We know vaccines prevent disease. We know programs are fixed by programmers.
We also know throughout history that quarantines work. That is quarantines of the sick and of people coming in from an outside area that might have the infection. There is nothing in history that says people have to stay at home, shelter in place, etc. to combat any infection. So you’re assuming that some novel theory cooked up a week ago has already been proven to be 100% valid. That’s the same thing they tell us about the global warming models.
What has been proven is that the South Korean model for fighting COVID-19 worked better than almost every other country’s model so far. And it did NOT include the widespread shutdowns happening here or any law enforcement going after healthy people for leading their lives. If an infected person was known to go to a store, they closed the store to clean it and reopened it. People were advised to stay at home, but not forced to.
There is no reason our governors or President need to do anything different than what South Korea did. The South Korean model works.
There are enough seeds out there to show you that this fragile system you call society is about to break. It’s actually been showing for years for those who have been keeping up with our crumbling society.
When you have poultry workers, grocery workers, garbage collectors, and other critical supply & sanitation workers threatening strikes over health conditions, you’ll see the problem.
Let’s talk in a month to see who’s right. FWIW, I hope you dudes are right - but I wouldn’t take any chances and assume this is nothing.
I think the issue is a better understanding of freedom, not the virus. My current thinking is that a lot of patriots have a much better understanding of freedom than almost all politicians, including Trump.

If Trump is issuing stay-at-home guidelines that don’t have any force of law behind it, that is fine.
The major failing of the feds so far has been the CDC and FDA completely botching the creation of a COVID-19 test. They went wrong on speed, on quality and on banning anyone else from trying to make a test for weeks. Those departments are under Trump’s purview, so he does share some of the responsibility for that failure.

Well, I’m not a flubro, but I will note the rate of increase is deceasing, my two-day daily moving average has steadily gone down, from 55% on 3/19 to just under 15% yesterday.
Death rates have been increasing, though.

I think they will - cause of death will be called Covid in many cases where it wasn’t primary cause of death. I think it has happened in Italy.

Wife and I both are working as we’re considered essential. Too bad we are. We really want to have a nice Spring vacation at the farm. Plenty to do outside, lots of grounds keeping and gardening to do. But we have to do what we have to do. If everybody laid out of work, it would make the virus look like a piker.

This virus hasn’t done anything anywhere to indicate that millions could die. If it is deadly in any great sense it hasn’t shown it yet and it has had all the time in the world to do so starting out. When a real killer comes along no one is saying could or might or maybe...they’re too busy burning their dead.
