New cases up again on cluster infections, imported cases

SEOUL, March 31 (Yonhap) — South Korea reported a slight uptick in new cases of the novel coronavirus Tuesday, driven by a steady rise in cluster infections and imported cases.
The 125 new cases, which were detected Monday and up from 78 new cases a day earlier, brought the nation’s total infections to 9,786, according to the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (KCDC).
The country’s death toll rose by four to 162, with more than half of fatalities being patients who are aged 80 or older.

I just visited my parents in their assisted living apartment a few days ago. They are pretty well locked down, and the only reason I was allowed to visit is because my dad is receiving hospice care in their apartment. They are allowing close family to enter with a quick health/temp screening, but no more than 3 at a time. All residents are as you say “trapped”, quarantined in their apartments. Meals, medications and health checks are delivered in-room. The dining room is closed, as are all of the common areas. No cards, socials, bingo, movies or trips to parks, museums, movies and shopping. Most of these people are completely alone. I think a lot of young folks underestimate how this is effecting the elderly, and not only those in assisted living or skilled nursing facilities.

Well I don’t want to wait until there’s even more ‘spreaders’ out there as our area just began recording and testing a couple weeks ago...at 49 cases now and that’s just the known cases. You know there’s more out there and they don’t know it yet.
Our area has a “If you need something” call number. I thought that was a gret idea as they set you up with those you need to contact.
That breaks my heart....so many of them, like this.
What meals are being delivered, since their dining room is closed?
I’m so sorry and hope this complete lockdown ends soon. I’m glad they at least have each other.
Are they saying, at these facilities that are locked down, any sort of timeframe, for when visitations can resume?

I’ve heard that either having SARS or getting the vaccine leaves you more susceptible to complications from COVID, but tried googling it and could not find anything on it.
