John Hopkins site problem
Vanity | March 24, 2020 | the_Watchman

The John Hopkins Covid-19 web site has been playing fast and loose with the data! For almost a week they have made it hard to find out the number of recovered cases in the U.S. For several days, it has been listed as 0 recoveries.

They used to keep a chart of Chinese cases, non-Chinese cases, and recovered cases. For the last two days, they altered the chart to show only new cases worldwide. Since the virus is blooming in more countries that is bound to go up, but it certainly looks more alarming.

It is an odd coincidence that recoveries are now not charted for the world and hidden for the U.S. just as a cure seems to be emerging.

I call baloney. It seems to me that they are presenting the data in a way to increase the level of panic.

It's a dynamic situation, so data sometimes lag. What I like about the Johns Hopkins site is that they now show the US data by county. It clarifies the geographic spread without having to search each state's individual websites. That helps me understand the impact on my loved ones far away.

Another site that I use a lot now is the Worldometer. It has graphs which show the daily new cases by country. It helps to understand which countries may be turning the corner on contagion, since there is a lag between slowing the rate of new cases and the slowing of the overall numbers of sick people. I think the estimate from Chinese data (I know, I know) is that it's about 12 days. So when we see new cases peak, it should be a bout 12 days for the peak in total cases in any particular area. Looking at Worldometer, it seems that Italy might have turned the corner. USA doesn't look quite as alarming either if that graph is correct. It suggests a slowing down in new cases. With the social distancing, it is possible. I hope so.

I’ve been using this one, https://ncov2019.live/data

I have to wonder if maybe university students aren’t running Hopkins website.

Yes, and for me the logarithmic chart options have disappeared. All designed to increase the panic with a straight linear graph.

Can someone else confirm that it is now missing?

I see they chose to report EXACTLY 21 US deaths bringing the figure to EXACTLY 600 right in the middle of Trump’s town hall so that would go out on the screen ticker.

I noticed this the other day. Not strange at all. Just intentional.

David Icke video. Very disturbing. I highly recommend.

They used to keep a chart of Chinese cases, non-Chinese cases, and recovered cases.

I have wondered about this in Italy, but have never seen any such statistics.

“Recovered #” is probably so freighted with bias it isn’t meaningful.

Not a conspiracy, but a problem with the quality of data being provided to them. They announced that there were pending changes in the series tables, which included stopping providing counts of recovered cases.

"No reliable data source reporting recovered cases for many countries, such as the US."

Upcoming changes in time series tables #1250

We need data correlation points.

Georgia - has 323 deaths. Where and when?

You can estimate this number yourself. Go back 2 weeks and find the total number of known US cases and then substract off the US deaths. You might be better off going to the CDC or WHO database instead of searching the Johns Hopkins display which is just compiling data from those sources.

One day Johns Hopkins website routed all recoveries to the state of Kentucky.
