Free gardening - Do a search for kitchen garbage gardening. It is planting the root parts of veggies you’ve already eaten and planting them in a windowsill. Plant carrot tops, celery bottoms and the lettuce bottoms that come with the roots (out of my price range), etc. You won’t grow a new plant but enough top sprigs to season with.

Save tomato seeds from grocery tomatoes. There is a process to prepare them so do a search. Personally, I’m not buying any fresh produce that can’t be washed, peeled and cooked these days.

Grab a handful of those dried beans you have stocked up on and plant them along your backyard fence. If you have a package of mixed variety beans, even better.

“I hope our companies realize how this hurt the citizens but fear the higher ups, who don’t get affected other than by profits, will be blindly seeking out production in other countries if not still in China. We need our companies back home.”

Unfortunately the radicals running the Democrat Party are owned by the unions, so if do manage to produce some stuff here, it will be VERY EXPENSIVE.

If New York is in really bad shape in two weeks, how will people across the country respond to that?

I know what my preferred response would be. Build a wall around that sucker

Numbers change quickly as indicated by the map I posted just above your comment.
Accurate data is hard to come by at any one point.

Take care.

Thanks, when they didn’t give details about the fish-product poisoning, I figured it was just some nutcase not doing his homework. No impact on me, I’ll use them if needed.

Detroit coronavirus cases jump to 551, eight deaths
Christine Ferretti, The Detroit NewsPublished 11:21 a.m. ET March 24, 2020

Detroit — The city has 551 confirmed cases of the coronavirus in its residents and eight deaths, health officials said Tuesday.

Denise Fair, Detroit’s chief public health officer, revealed the latest figures during Detroit City Council’s first virtual formal session after the state mandated more stringent rules to avoid spread of the virus, including a “stay home, stay safe” order that went into effect at 12:01 a.m.

How far is the hard clay beneath the top layer? You need good drainage, and at least 8 - 12 inches of loose soil, depending upon crop.

The Clorox tip wasn't mine. Sounds interesting though. I use an Epson salt spray in the evening. It contains magnesium sulfate, which helps with cell wall structure. Bell pepper and tomato plants do well and turn really green.

I do know that too much chlorine in city water is detrimental to the organisms in the soil which breakdown minerals to nutrient forms which plants can use. If you use chlorinated city water for watering, let it sit in a barrel or bucket of a few days - the chlorine will dissipate. PH of the water is very important too. You can get a test kit to check it.

Our city water is very alkaline, so I use rain water and even set up a reverse osmosis unit for watering my box garden.

The money made from mardi gras this year will be dwarfed by the monetary effect of the viral multiplication that happened there.

“Rather than impose an extreme statewide crackdown, Polis instead did something remarkable, something that politicians often have trouble doing. He chose, at least to a substantial degree, to trust individuals to rise to the challenge, do the right thing, and do their part to keep Coloradans safe. “

Other than a perfect record of failure where that’s been tried, why the heck not!

The clorox tip was mine.

In the deep south there’s a microb-a-palooza in the summer. All with the goal of melting your tomato plants into piles of black goo.

The clorox stuff stops them :)

The copper stuff you buy at the store might actually work in less humid places. Here you can almost hear the blight laughing at you.

I got worried they’d eventually mine my property for the copper I’d sprayed on my tomatoes over the years LOL.

Do any local stores have organic potatoes?

Those should not have been sprayed with sprouting inhibitor and be OK for sprouting and planting.
