I get what you are saying, and I know we all have to work together and make sacrifices, but it occurs to me whenever we want someone to act against their own self interest, we resort to emotional appeals.
It would have also been not only Patriotic, but Professional and Prudent for the people who understand disease, the same people who are responsible for, and paid handsomely to, protect the health care providers from disease, to have not allowed such horrendous shortages to occur in the first place.
That whole shut down the country thing was just debunked by Trump
A better option is enforced quarantine of the “hot zones”.

Yeah, because they are just rolling out the shutdowns each day. We will get there eventually.
