That’s my line. Sure some could have gotten rid of their phones, but that really does not matter, since facial recognition is everywhere in China and masks are no hindrance. And besides the number of phone ditchers would never number in the millions in China - the phone is just too important personally.

Also theat number reflects their reported dead number times 1000

It is hard to discredit many things nowadays, but candidly I think this one is a stretch.

Proportionally, 8MM/1.4bn = 0.57%. For perspective, this loss of life would equate to 1.9MM in the US and 286k in Hubei. That’s big, and it would would get YUGE airtime even on Social Media. China isn’t NK; word would get out. Parenthetically, only 68k got Coronavirus in Hubei.

I’m always skeptical of items in a language I don’t speak. I searched for this story online and found a Reddit link, but the Mods pulled it with this commentary:

What this seems to be getting at is those people died. What is happening here is that people are canceling their phone plans to save money during an economic crisis. This is an economic impact of the virus, not proof of millions of deaths.

I think THAT is a more plausible explanation. In fact, if it was due to dead people, we’re assuming that 8MM families went and, in the midst of sorrow, got around to canceling the phone bill of grandma. Further, this chart would call into dispute the claim that massive numbers of dead were piling up prior to January.

I don’t want to go on the cart either, but I'll spend my time on the US data for now.

1,603 hospitalized for coronavirus in New York State (15% of cases)

_Exactly_ the numbers we would have predicted—this stuff is not hard when you have done your homework.

If the BSL lab building up and magically moved itself, there has to be a record of who it was that changed the data. Follow the money. Follow the politics. Everyone associated with letting this monster into the wild needs to be dealt with accordingly.

There would be a hemp shortage if we dealt appropriately with all responsible for this mess. :-)

Unfortunately, it was more than just Italy’s government who were lazy and playing politics to stop travel.

Yep. Half, más o menas, of those will end up in ICU, and half, más o menas, of those will die.

Hmmm ≈3.25% fatalities. That's about what my homework predicts, what does yours say?

It depends on hospital capacity (human, equipment, supplies).

The numbers are lower if the hospital has excess capacity, higher when they exceed that capacity.

Just got off the R train. A rider gasped for air loudly, and dropped to the floor. I immediately got off the next stop and begin filming. I'm not sure about the man's condition or if it was the #Coronavirus or not, but in reality we can't afford to take chances anymore.#COVID pic.twitter.com/41LSbRjo5u— Richard Prado (@Pilly_Prado) March 20, 2020

True, but the available data I use gives roughly a quarter going in to the hospital come out horizontally.

But it’s just the flu...
