A statue of the Angel Moroni sits atop the Salt Lake Temple in a 2015 photo. The temple was damaged Wednesday in an earthquake that also dislodged Moroni's trumpet.
(CNN)The 5.7-magnitude earthquake that shook Utah Wednesday morning also dislodged a symbolic part of Salt Lake City's iconic Mormon temple: the trumpet of an angel statue atop its highest spire.
The temple is the spiritual focal point for the 16 million members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
"The trumpet on the Angel Moroni statue fell off, and there is minor displacement of some of the temple's smaller spire stones," said Daniel Woodruff, a spokesman for the church.

You got that right. Absolutely right. They are very moral and upright folks, at least the ones I knew in the Army. But, it is a huge cult, just like all the other cults.
Now now.
Do not diss the GARMENT just because it is NOT found in the BoM.
I'm sure that one of our Mormon FRiends will; however; be able to show us the place it IS found; in their other scriptures.
Two thoughts....the same rain and drought falls on all of us....and....there was light in Goshen, while the rest of Egypt was darkened!
It might be symbolic for God beginning to limit the Mormons’ ability to transmit their heresies(Moroni no longer “trumpeting” their messages) to the world.
I believe God is speaking to us!
Perhaps Romney is not reflective of the average everyday “laity”...but Harry Reid and Mitt Romney...2 peas in a pod. It is not Republican or Democrat for them....it is Mormon Triumphalism. The Mormons play their own games and even the hierarchy really believes this stuff! Mormonsism will rule the world some day and when things fall apart, they believe they will be the ones picking up the pieces! Sound familiar?
I’ll bet at heart, even the Muslims and Mormons would find ways of getting along with each other. In both religions, it’s the women who get the shaft!
“Mormon beliefs are not remotely Christian.”
Why no reference to this statement being one of your humble opinion?
You have been around here for almost a couple of decades preaching your sermons. Maybe it’s time to let it rest for a bit and not be so sure of yourself. You can be just as wrong as the next guy or gal. The Holy Spirit doesn’t speak with forked tongue. As you are well aware their is another voice that speaks as if he was God, and none of us want to listen to that voice or influence.
I would suggest to JimRob to stop tolerating the people and religion bashing that has gone on far too long on the various anti-religion threads. Biblical Christianity speaks against such things and says we should treat one another as we would desire to be treated, to love one another and forgive one another our faults if we truly desire to be forgiven of our own.
Follow up from the mouth of the Lord:
Matt. Ch. 5
43 Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbor, and hate thine enemy.
44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.
46 For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?
47 And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so?
48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.
If I was talking to myself I might be motivated to say to myself, “Self, what do you think of what you said about Chuck and Nancy just this morning, not to mention the expletives undeleleted in regards to your friends in the Congress called democrats”. Yep there are motes everywhere but they start with our own.
We are now at a point in history where believers appear about to be bigger underdogs world wide then we have been heretofore and if we chose to be at odds one with another, we further undermine our strength as believers in the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ regardless of denomination, and Christian or otherwise.
The debate might be over, but as long as I live and have ears to hear and eyes to see, they will be used for that which they have been designed.
Some of their newer building don’t even HAVE a Moroni on top!
Nothing but a steeple here...

FRiend, what is true is not a matter of personal opinion.
Truth is declared by God in Holy Scripture.
Mormonism has nothing in common with Christianity other than the name Jesus Christ... and mormons don't mean the Jesus Christ of the Bible, but a created spirit, brother of Satan. This false Jesus can not save.
They do not mean the eternal, never created, God, the second Person of the Triune God of the Bible.
Nor does mormonism teach the Gospel that brings salvation, but instead a perverse, henothestic system of personal "worthiness."
If any religion does not teach Scriptural truths of who Christ is and fails to declare the Gospel of Grace that saves, it is false.
You are not listening. There is ONLY ONE ALMIGHTY GOD THE ETERNAL FATHER, CREATOR OF HEAVEN AND EARTH!!!!!!
All will worship God the Eternal Father, including his Son Jesus Christ, for all generations and all eternity!!!!
THERE WILL NEVER BE ANYONE OR ANY BEING GREATER THAN GOD THE ETERNAL FATHER IN HEAVEN!!!!!
Quit listening to your Anti-Mormon Fake News, your inuendo, your slanders.
So the mormon Jesus is not god? The mormon holy ghost is not god?
And on other planets, do they not have their own mormon gods to rule their created spirits?
And is this mormon "Eternal Father" the same god as the mormon Heavenly Father, or does the Eternal Father outrank Heavenly Father?
And was "Eternal Father" once a man also, like Heavenly Father?
And why do you shout so much?
Dear Hypocritical Religious Cowards, Once again you attack and refuse to defend your own religious beliefs!!!
John 17:22 Christ prays to God the Father that his disciples “that they may be one, even as we are one”.
SINCE YOU BELIEVE THAT CHRIST’S ONENESS IS IN IDENTITY RATHER THAN PURPOSE.......HOW ARE YOU GOING TO UNITE WITH THE TRI-UNE? ...Are you going to form a QUAD-UNE????
CHECK-MATE. The Central theme of your Christology is incomparable with the Bible and is a FABLE, as foreseen by the Apostle Paul:
2nd Timothy Chapter 4:
3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
Since according to lds theology, heavenly father had a god before him.
If heavenly father had to progress to become a god, there had to be an origin for that being. that origin according to lds theology/joseph smith was another god . . . .
This is the clearest indication possible that you have no facts - a personal attack. I'll take if for what it is, an admission that you never had any argument that was based on fact.
I asked you questions. You failed to answer what I asked you. Why?
Why do you shout and call names, instead of being a good witness of your religion? This seems to be a very dishonest approach in dealing with a fellow man.
Already asked and answered in post #142, which I will link here.
Now, please answer the questions I just posted.
Hi my old friend Godzilla?
Nice to see you. How goes it in your world?
This sounds exactly like the Dread Pirate Roberts, from Princess Bride...
"A pirate of near-mythical reputation, the Dread Pirate Roberts is feared across the seven seas for his ruthlessness and sword fighting prowess, and is well known for taking no prisoners. It is revealed during the course of the story that Roberts is not one man, but a series of individuals who pass the name and reputation to a chosen successor once they are wealthy enough to retire. When the time comes, "Roberts" and his chosen successor sail into port and discharge the crew. Then they hire a new crew, the ex-Roberts staying aboard as first mate and referring to his successor as "Captain Roberts". Once the crew grows accustomed to the new Roberts, the previous captain leaves to enjoy his retirement.
Westley, the hero of The Princess Bride, was on a voyage to seek his fortune when his ship was captured by the Dread Pirate (who never leaves captives alive) and Westley is reported dead.[2] While the other passengers are weeping and offering bribery for their lives, Westley simply asks Roberts to please not kill him. The "please" arousing his interest, Roberts asks, "Why should I make an exception of you?" Westley then explains his mission to get enough money to reunite with his true love, Buttercup. Westley's description of Buttercup's beauty moves Roberts to the point that he hires Westley as a personal attendant.
While Roberts is impressed with Westley's work, he continues to keep Westley's future in doubt by saying each night, "Good night, Westley. Good work. Sleep well. I'll most likely kill you in the morning." After about three years, Roberts and Westley have grown close, and Roberts promotes Westley to his second-in-command.
Shortly after that, Roberts reveals to Westley that the guise of the "Dread Pirate Roberts" is merely a pseudonym that he has inherited, and that his real name is Ryan. Roberts goes on to explain that the method works because Roberts' notorious reputation inspires overwhelming fear in sailors. Ships immediately capitulate and surrender their wealth rather than be captured, a fate they imagine to be certain death. A pirate operating under his own name is said to be incapable of such infamy: "No one would surrender to the Dread Pirate Westley."[3]
Mormonism is a combination of a false religion and an eternal multilevel marketing scam.
......”Mormonism is a combination of a false religion and an eternal multilevel marketing scam”......
Yes....has all the checkmarks of a cult....
And YOU are not reading.
Book of Mormon:
Now Zeezrom said: Is there more than one God? And he answered, No. (Alma 11:28-29)
...and be arraigned before the bar of Christ the Son, and God the Father, and the Holy Spirit, which is one Eternal God, to be judged according to their works, whether they be good or whether they be evil. (Alma 11:44)
...doctrine of Christ, and the only and true doctrine of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, which is one God, without end. Amen. (2 Nephi 31:21)
...praises with the choirs above, unto the Father, and unto the Son, and unto the Holy Ghost, which are one God, in a state of happiness which hath no end. (Mormon 7:7)
...power of God; and the Son, because of the flesh; thus becoming the Father and Son--And they are one God, yea, the very Eternal Father of heaven and of earth. And thus the flesh becoming subject to the Spirit, or the Son to the Father, being one God, (Mosiah 15:3-5)
...of Jared, that whoso should possess this land of promise, from that time henceforth and forever, should serve him, the true and only God, or they should be swept off when the fulness of his wrath should come upon them. (Ether 2:8)
"Behold, I am Jesus Christ the Son of God. I created the heavens and the earth, and all things that in them are. I was with the Father from the beginning. I am in the Father, and the Father in me; and in me hath the Father glorified his name." (3 Nephi 9:15)
"And again the Lord called others, and said unto them likewise; and he gave unto them power to baptize. And he said unto them: On this wise shall ye baptize; and there shall be no disputations among you. Verily I say unto you, that whoso repenteth of his sins through your words and desireth to be baptized in my name, on this wise shall ye baptize them--Behold, ye shall go down and stand in the water, and in my name shall ye baptize them. And now behold, these are the words which ye shall say, calling them by name, saying: Having authority given me of Jesus Christ, I baptize you in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Amen. And then shall ye immerse them in the water, and come forth again out of the water. And after this manner shall ye baptize in my name; for behold, verily I say unto you, that the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Ghost are one; and I am in the Father, and the Father in me, and the Father and I are one...And thus will the Father bear record of me, and the Holy Ghost will bear record unto him of the Father and me; for the Father, and I, and the Holy Ghost are one." (3 Nephi 11:22-27, 36)
And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
It appears that someone in this thread is using words that they do not really know the meanings of.
