ST. PAUL, Minn. (FOX 9) - Gov. Tim Walz ordered thousands of businesses to close by Tuesday, vastly reshaping life in Minnesota as the state tries to control the spread of coronavirus.
The order shuts down bars and restaurants to dine-in customers by 5 p.m., only allowing them to provide curbside or delivery services. Walz’s executive action also shutters theaters, museums, fitness centers and bowling alleys across the state.

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz has ordered bars and restaurants to close to dine-in customers by 5 p.m. Tuesday and continue indefinitely, a move Walz said was necessary to control the spread of coronavirus.
The governor announced the changes at a Monday evening news conference at the state Capitol, where he said it would lead to the biggest mass layoff in Minnesota history. State health officials said earlier in the day that they were in talks with the governor about how to carry out the plan.
“We need to stop congregating. We’re going to close the bars. We’re going to close the restaurants. We’re going to close the places where we gather,” Walz told reporters. “Understand, the magnitude of what we’re doing is not lost on any of us.”
The order is scheduled to end on March 27, but Walz said it is likely to be extended.

My state’s Constitution specifically prohibits martial law - and I’ll be one of thousands that will ignore it.

Says who? This has been declared a clear and present danger to the security, health and welfare of the American people. Should.mass casualties start to happen and the situation warrants full restrictions of.movement like.Spain, Italy, China,Hong Kong, et al you bet this will go to martial law as that’s the only way to get the regular Army access to law enforcement and Triage hospitals inside our borders. No way the supreme court’s gonna step in, the laws needed for martial law have already been upheld in Spanish flu. Sorry but you are wrong if it gets real bad and the Army is needed marital law is the key that opens the door.

Ignore at your own peril. I was a military police officer for 11 years I can assure you that should marital law be declared for a national emergency such as a pandemic where people are dying my platoon would use force up to and including deadly to enforce it for the good of the nation. Sorry if you don’t like that but it is the truth none of my troopers would have not upheld it with people dying by the thousands which is what it would be if martial law is declared. Italy is losing nearly 500 a day and they are less than 1/3 our population. If we are losing a thousand a day and marital law is declared and people break it for.selfishness reason I can assure you the troops in this case will not be on your side. Look at my tag line you will know my speciality. That said I personally would if still serving follow orders and give those order to my guys to enforce by all means martial law. During times as these they are not unlawful orders they are from our elected representatives doing their sworn duty to protect life.

Martial law is illegal in my State and we wouldn’t stand for it. Doesn’t matter what your State’s Constitution allows.
I agree, the left is overplaying its hand. Trump is popular in Minnesota, despite the leftist control of the state. The last gasp of the left in Minnesota is the laws that allow nonresidents to vote, and vote twice. Trump will do well here in 2020.

If you can treat people, and they can leave the hospital, and they are old, then maybe we don’t have to lock down the entire country? Maybe the problem is solvable.

Yes, military forces can constitutionally and legally be used in some situations. National Guard first (states), then regulars if needed.
emergency powers, in a state of emergency you can even be shot on sight without a trial.
