Two US doctors in critical condition with COVID-19, dozens more infected
This virus is dangerous, and its impact is still unfolding.
Beth Mole - 3/18/2020, 11:02 AM
As the number of detected COVID-19 cases in the US nears 6,500 and deaths reached 115 on March 18, healthcare workers are already being hit hard by the pandemic sweeping the country.
Dozens have fallen ill, and many more are in quarantine. At least two emergency physicians are in critical condition.
I am deeply saddened by this news, but not surprised, William Jaquis, president of the American College of Emergency Physicians, said in a statement. This virus is dangerous, and its impact is still unfolding. As emergency physicians, we answer the call to care for our most vulnerable, even at great personal risk.
Jaquis urged ACEP members to stay vigilant and meticulously follow the recommended precautions to protect yourself.
One of the main sources of anxiety for many healthcare professionals, though, is a possible lack of precautions and access to personal protective equipment (PPE), such as masks and gowns.
Apparently the problem is that the lockdown is working too well

R0 of between 1.7 and 3.5; why it’s not “just the flu.”
I suspect that is part of it.
Time to get equipment, masks, etc.
Look how many cases have popped up, in just one day.
went to a few stores today
if you were too much of a Flubro to get some TP..you wont find it in many many areas unless you happen upon them stocking and it will be gone in a flash.
store shelves really are emptying.
Costo has no toilet paper or paper towels at the open and said it would probably be a few days
Here is a tip...go to the front of the store if you want precious items like clorox wipes.
Was able to nab some on a pallet in the middle of the floor by check out .. but you had to be quick when the store opened. by the time I walked to the back of store and then back up to the front even the pallet was gone.

Task Force Presser just started
A month is good but only if the entire world shuts down at the same time. Two weeks here. Two weeks there. A town here. A country there ain’t gonna do it. Complete and total shut down is the answer.
1 Costco corporate staff in WA has died.
Long threads keep the trolls away.
Its all testing. It will be a while before we can get a reasonable grasp on any numbers.
One of the things I had said weeks ago is to establish expectations. Last week when cases were low, it was expected they would jump this week over 5k because of testing. I expect it to go to 10k and 20k pretty quickly...because of testing.
You need to establish your own expectations and talk about them...and explain why.
Then when stuff happens you have your head set...and you can think about steps to take in your life.
Otherwise you get surprised and scared. That is what you need to avoid.
Yes, my car has the fresh/recirculate button. The past two weeks, I’ve just opened the windows and sunroof.
Thanks on the window unit.
I woke up to snow on my lawn yesterday. I hate March.
