I figured out a good way to avoid the swab test (if it is given at a hospital) is to show up open carrying, since firearms are prohibited on the grounds. They would turn me away.
The low numbers testing positive may mean that the disease has not spread far enough throughout the WA population—yet.
Remember, this nasty virus has been doubling individuals infected every three days.
At that rate it will take over a month to work its will on WA state.

I am quite aware of what LEGAL authority local ELECTED And APPOINTED officials have. That does not extend to self-appointed authority figures.

These same 9 doctors also work at Grady, where my son does contract work.
By the way, his boss a “flubro” and told my son that they would not get better PPE in early February because this was all a hoax to take down the President. My 20-something son went in and asked his boss for better protection while it was still available. His boss has now done a 180, and of course, there is NO PPE for anyone including my son. So thanks for that too, IJTFBs

cgbg, concur that this is a nasty virus and still has a long way to go. I also am supportive of measures to slow the spread and keep it out of high risk populations as much as possible.
What I find interesting is despite the near hysteria from some quarters, the number of positive cases is a low as it is in those tested. It’s not easy to get a test so this is usually done in symptomatic individuals and not all comers. I’m still not quite sure what to make of this disparity but do find it interesting as am watching it.
I’m in the health care field and this virus is one of the most significant and sobering ones I’ve seen in my career. We have a ways to go before we turn the corner.

Here in Washington state we had a lot of testing available earlier than other states so we have tested a lot. The University of Washington Research Lab developed a test. They had a drive-thru test available for staff a couple of weeks ago. They now have drive-thru testing for staff, students and UW Medical patients.
Since the University of Washington has a huge student body and probably a third of Seattle residents use UW Physicians as their primary doctor there are a lot of people who can drive through.
There are several sites with RVs set up for quarantine as well as an older motel which was purchased from the county.
Of course, since our goofy gov Inslee has to copy everything that California’s goofy gov Newsom does, we have restaurants, bars, ski slopes, you name it, shut down.
There have been huge runs on TP and food as there has been everywhere and a lot of people are stocked up and prepared to shelter in place for a few weeks.
Our DOH gives a daily update at about 3:45 each day so one knows the negatives and whether they are decreasing or not. I think, although we increased testing recently from 1,000 to 2,500 per day that the goal is to get to 4,000 tests per day.
Remember, WA state has been the best in testing of all the states.
They are more likely to be testing folks who requested tests as well as just contact tracing.

That sort of thing will affect me “bigly” - I have to cross state line to care for Mom or return, and there will be work issues too... Now will have to have “permit” or “proof”, if this is imposed, and I can imagine the delays at checkpoints as there’s a MAJOR river involved too.
