San Francisco's mayor has announced an unprecedented three week lockdown that will begin on Tuesday at midnight and which bans anyone from leaving their home for anything other than doctor's visits or trips to the supermarket.
In addition to the lockdown in city parameters, six counties in the Bay Area are being told to 'shelter in place'.
The lockdown is the strictest action to be taken in America. Anyone who breaks it faces legal repercussions.
It will last until April 7. Mayor London Breed called it a 'defining moment' on Monday morning.

Probably exemptions for necessary personnel..like Speaker of the House.

“Grocery stores, pharmacies, banks and gas stations will remain open,” the mayor insisted. “Restaurants will be open for take-out only. But non-essential stores like bars and gyms will close effective Midnight tonight.”
There are a few more exceptions. According to the Examiner, you are prohibited from leaving your home “except to meet basic needs including visiting the doctor, or buying groceries or medicine, until at least April 7.”
You can still take a walk, walk your dog, or exercise outdoors, but you must remain six feet away from any other people.
The homeless have to poop within a 6’ radius?

And, sadly, there are even people here on FR who are OK with various kinds of travel bans and restrictions.
Hopefully this crazy stuff will lead to many people seeing just exactly what authoritarianism leads to.
The government should NEVER be able to restrict the movement of the people.
