The Nextdoor platform is indeed nationwide, but you need somebody to set up your local site in your neighborhood, village or town. You need to get people invited to join. It only becomes useful once you reach a critical mass of users in a local area.
The Nextdoor we have here in our California neighborhood is excellent — lots of engaged neighbors.
The Nextdoor we have in our Idaho neighborhood is new and not lots of users yet.
Re keto (or low carb) prepping
Ive frozen a ton of grass fed grass finished ground beef, and Ive frozen a bunch of eggs - its 1/2 egg to a ice cube slot (on mine anyway) so I could just mix up a lot of eggs and pour them into ice cube trays and still be able to measure. I have a ton of butter too. I have frozen some raw milk and purchased powdered coco milk if we run out of raw cow milk.
Its harder prepping for keto.
Today Im slow cooking bone broth with dried beans and veggies. Its all possible especially if you have a crowd to feed like me.
Thanks for your kind words. She is definitely better. She is young and healthy. She was on a work trip the previous week and sat next to someone coughing on the plane. Her symptoms were a cold, cough, exhaustion, headache and fever. It peaked on Saturday (she couldn’t get out of bed) but she seems fine now. She is going to the doctor tomorrow to get her clearance back to work, but she would be more confident knowing she’s not going to infect others.
“the attacks on Twitter seem to be going down.”
As do the incessant attacks from the “It’s just the flu, man” brigade here on FR.
“The implication is we need to stay hunkered down and socially distanced until a vaccine is available.”
That is not really an option.
Under that scenario the entire world’s supply chain is expended, for everything, in less than a month.
But I can see an initial 3 weeks, followed by “call outs” for people with certain skills while everyone else stays sequestered.
Eventually everyone will be called out except the elderly retired and children.
But if you’re a little over 65 with needed skills, your nation may call upon YOU. When they do, you will answer. As we all will.
Interesting times curse.
“why not the speakers!”
Excellent point. Leadership demands that they lead, even with things as simple as distance, gloves and not touching the face. “Walk the talk” means a lot to people.
Have relatives in Singapore, just spoke to them yesterday. They’re doing fine, classes are online, lots of testing for people going in and out of most places, a beneficent regime, (plus a culture of compliance), and home food delivery.

Since Mr. b had a doctor’s appointment first thing this morning, I asked him to pick up a couple things. He didn’t and waited until mid morning.
Surprise! He just walked in the door (4:00) saying there was barely anything in any grocery store or dollar store or hardware store for preps within two counties. No tp. Many were about out of meat. Said it looked like Venezuela. Said he never believed me until he saw for himself.
Well, DUHHHHHHHHHH!
At the market the other day, they had a sign that said “We have no bananas” I was so tempted to write “Yes” at the top of it.
Yes...we’re members of Nextdoor, as is our family.
Some will stay in no matter what. They money we put in we knew we could lose, some we arent pulling out, even though I know its going to be a long bumpy ride that might take years to recover from. But for my elderly FIL, we moved his money to a safer spot 3 weeks ago. He doesnt need the risk and didnt really need to make any more than he has.
LMAO!! I needed that today. :-)
As do the incessant attacks from the Its just the flu, man brigade here on FR.

Agree.
Have noticed the same.
Hard to say it is not serious when San Francisco just ordered a Lockdown for three weeks
“80 new #coronavirus #covid19 cases today in New Jersey.”
My county Bergen saw a substantial increase in cases today.
Great analogy.
GA is up to 121. Still doubling every other day.
