Holy moley!
I have a bit of a cold or something. I am out of Kleenex for my constantly runny nose (yeah, I know *yech* TMI -- but it is important to the story).
I always get up early, so I ran to the nearby Ralphs which purpotes to be open 24 hrs. I encounter a hand-written sign "open from 8 AM to 8 PM."
Well, dangit!
OK, I go back at 8 AM. There is a HUGE LINE to get in!! There was a clerk at the door managing the line so she says I have to wait until the line finishes.
Fair enough. It took the line 10 minutes to finish. When I got to the paper goods, I literally got the last box of Kleenex and the second to the last 8 back of : paper towels. Toilet paper: gone. By the time I snagged the Kleenex and paper towels the shelf was empty!
I have to ask W T H??? Fortunately at home we have Costco levels of this stuff. You preppers can get rich reselling your supplies.
I am on the road in CA (I live in TX) so I can only do what I can do.
This whole thing has taught me a valuable lesson for the future. Who knew that the most valuable commodity during the apocalypse would be ass wipe?
No meat or dairy. Can goods low at my Ralphs
Live Free or Die Hard...
That was me yesterday, in line at Ralph’s in Garden Grove before 8 AM.
I guess use finger alternative will be invoked
Here in the western burbs of Minneapolistan....
I went to two Menards mostly for research purposes.
Many of the grocery shelves.....empty
The whole rack of nitrile gloves....empty
No paper products to be found.
All five gallon gas cans.....gone
The zombie apocalypse is in full swing here.
Douglas Adams alluded to that in The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, although he broadened the description to "towels."
I give the panicky people about a week before they burn out their adrenals and things return to a more normal state.
I really hate 90% of people. They are dumb and/or evil. I hope Wuhan Virus takes most of them out. Used to be they would starve or get eaten by wild animals. Now they accumulate and make life hell. I miss nature.
I was in Costco a few days ago. They had employees guarding the water and paper goods. They were limiting all of it to one or two per customer.
That’s how to sanely handle it.
The good news is that there are not any actual product shortages and once the part of the population prone to panick has all they can stuff into their garage, normalcy will prevail again.
You can get nitrile gloves at the feed stores.
LOL! I’ve been avoiding grocery shopping the past few days.
Yesterday I went for a few things.
I did manage to buy the LAST bag of cat litter.
Cat litter. Who the hell stocks up on cat litter?
“”””You can get nitrile gloves at the feed stores.””””””””
I have plenty out in thee shop but I bet at the auto parts stores they are also sold out.
THAT is freaking hilarious!!!
b/c it is sadly true.
Well, they’re hoarding toilet paper like it’s the end of the world. I guess they figure that the cat’s gotta crap, too.
I get my cat litter delivered by Chewy 24 hour delivery!
Im at Ralphs in mission viejo right now. Fun times!
