A CORONAVIRUS patient in Kentucky has been placed under 24/7 armed guard after refusing to self-isolate.
Gov. Andy Beshear said the state had to make the unusual move to protect others nearby.
Deputies are now stationed outside the 53-year-old man's house around-the-clock in Nelson County.
"It's a step I hoped I never had to take, but we can't allow one person who we know has this virus to refuse to protect their neighbors," Gov. Beshear told reporters.
The unidentified man is the only coronavirus patient in the county, and officials were worried that he could infect others.
A total of 18 people have tested positive in Kentucky.
The patient had left the hospital without permission, according to TV station WDRB.

Why not just clear out a local jail, and reserve it for people like this?
Looks like a war of words will probably erupt here on Free Republic. I am not in favor of closing everything down. I do not see this thing becoming an epidemic. People have banded Governor the wind here in Ohio and he will single-handedly destroy the economy here. 26 people oh my we’re all going to die. We must close everything down. Yeah this person Kentucky definitely should be forced to be isolated I am fine with that. But Newt Gingrich comparing Italy and mapping that did the rest of the world is how we are supposed to react no I’m afraid not.
So what about all the other sick people with the flu, for instance? Kill them? Burn them at the stake?

This is why people will soon not want to get tested. They will hide their symptoms. They will only go to the hospital if it gets real bad and cant breathe. By then they will have spread it.

Come up with your treatment plan for the initials stages and hope you can knock it out.
Send him the bill for the cost of putting deputies on guard at his house and medical bills if any get sick.
I hope the French Gendarmes sequester you in a house with 24-hour guards now that you’ve admitted to bring infected. That should also keep you from sneaking out of France as you were planning.

I will bet you man had an underlying condition he was unaware of!!! His immune system working overtime trying to rid his body of whatever the problem was then contracted the virus and BAM it knocked him over!!
I made a sarcastic remark on FR the other day about a zombie apocalypse scenario where people are walking the streets near death with the cops having to shoot them on site to keep them from infecting others.
With idiots like this there might me some reality to that statement.
Now, with that said, HIV/AIDS is a much more serious epidemic than this virus currently happens to be. More cases develop each year and it is deadly. It just so happens to be politically correct to pretend it’s just OK to let such infected persons just go around and happily inject their disease into others by needle or “other” injection means.
Now keeping things just to recognized epidemics, obama’s H1N1 swine flu (according to Rush) was much worse than this and all but ignored by the media.

Many places do not have a separate empty jail facility with enough capacity to have the inmates transferred to.
